The most comfortable shoes I own
Member Name: -becky-
Advantages: Comfortable, look good, One for One
Disadvantages: A little pricey, but worth it
There's nothing worse than uncomfortable shoes, rubbing and leaving blisters on your feet. I'm definitely not a fan of that happening, as I'm sure none of you will be either. I've never found the 'dolly shoes' the usual flats everyone seems to wear very comfortable at all. I got into the habit of carrying plasters with me everywhere because I was so used to them rubbing my feet. After searching high and low for some comfortable flat shoes, I stumbled upon the Toms brand in Schuh.
How did the Toms brand originate? TOMS was founded by a man called Blake Mycoskie in 2006 on his trip to Argentina. He saw the poverty and conditions that people lived in and he saw that it was normal walking around without shoes on. Here in England, everyone would probably stare at someone walking through the middle of town with bare feet. Blake committed himself to creating a solution to this problem - One for One. This scheme meant that for every pair of Toms bought, a pair of shoes would be given to a child in need. Although it may not seem a big deal, every little helps. So not only will you be buying a great pair of shoes, you'll be giving to a good cause.
Retailing in most shops for anything from £30-£40, it was a lot more than I'd usually pay, but they were a branded name, so this was expected. I tried on a pair in my usual size (6) and they seemed a little tight, but I was advised by the sales assistant that after one or two wears they would give way - which they did. They are the most comfortable shoes I own. The base is squidgy (I'm not sure if that's the right word, haha) but they almost felt cushioned. The elasticated V on the front of the Classic design makes it easy for the shoes to slip on and off your feet and also allows them to stretch if you have wider feet. They're also great for the warm weather as they're quite light on your feet. I wouldn't suggest wearing them in the rain as with the material they're obviously not waterproof. Unlike the usual canvas shoes, the rubber type base on the bottom is extremely durable and mine only began to show signs of wear after months up to the year mark of me wearing them on a very regular basis.
I now own 2 pairs of the classics in Purple and Burgundy and come cordones (a slightly more expensive style of Toms at around £50) in black and intend to expand on my collection!! My purple classics are getting to the scruffy stage after well over a year of wear, I've worn them out in the rain and on muddy fields walking my dog and they have just about had it - I can't really complain.
Toms look great for casual wear and can even look smart with a dress if you're not into wearing heels. They come in a massive variety of colours and styles with new colours being released all the time. They're popular with celebrities like Louis Tomlinson (a One Direction member) and others, so they can't be too shabby! Toms are available from most shoe shops like Schuh and Office and also online at www.toms.co.uk in sizes 6-13 for men and sizes 3-10 for women also offering half sizes.
Summary: You really can't go wrong with Toms
