Ballet flats from Topshop that give you a skip in your step!

Being a ballerina was the perfect hobby for me when I was a child, I LOVED getting dressed up into my leotard and tutu but my favourite part of the whole outfit was always the shoes. I LONGED to be able to wear them outside of my ballet school but knew how ruined they would become if I did wear them outside so I cherished them like gold.

When I stumbled across these ballet style flats on the Topshop website a couple of years ago I instantly fell in love with them and scrambled for my debit card to buy them. Originally £20 I was very pleased to purchase mine for £16 this year. There are other very similar style shoes being sold which range between £16-£18 and are sold in a variety of colours.

With a small cushioned section within the shoe I found these to be extremely comfertable. The outer leather has not been marked easily and the bow detailing at the front has stayed in place perfectly.

I have lived in my ballet pumps for three straight summers now and have yet to be disappointed by these shoes. I love them and every time I slip my feet into them I feel like a ballerina again. They are a wonderful wardrobe staple that go with anything you could want them to. I mainly pair mine with jeans and dresses and make a gorgeous replacement for heels on a night out meaning you can dance all night long!

I really cannot find a con with these shoes, if I had to choose one it would be that the cushoning wears down quickly, HOWEVER saying this this all depends on how often you wear the shoes and how far you walk in them. Upon purchase a sticker is on the bottom of the shoes saying 'not suitable for outside wear' which is probably why the cushioning has disappeared!

They still are and possibly forever could be my favourite shoes!

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Ideal for anyone who wants a well priced, high quality pair of leather shoes.

      Style:
These are your typical flats, with a synthetic flat sole and a (VERY) slightly raised padding near the back of the shoe, i'm talking cm's here! They're round toed with a cord bow detailing, adding a unique and feminine look. They're not your usual bows and do require been tied once bought. The material's a shoe lace/thin rope type material. The shoes are 100% leather, causing the shoes to be slightly firmer than your usual flats but are soft to the touch and comfy to wear. Putting them on is easy; like all flats they simply slip on. I find they're very versitle with my outfits, and can look good with jeans, shorts, skirts, pretty much anything, without looking out of the ordinary/clashing and are smart, classy and discreet - ideal for any setting; work, college, uni, school, home, trips around town etc.

      Material & Care:
As these shoes are 100% Malachy leather they ofcourse need that bit of extra care. Washing them is a huge no-no; they'd shrink, crease or even simply break apart, so i wipe mine with either a damp cloth or anti bactrial wipes, which does the job in cleaning them aswell as giving a lovely shine. As leather's so delicate they will scuff if not taken care of. I make sure to wear mine just to Uni and trips around town shopping and make sure i don't step in any dirt etc. Ofcourse if you do scuff them, dabbing on a bit of suitablly coloured polish will do the trick.

      Comfort:
I've found they're much firmer than my cheaper, man-made material. They don't give a huge amount of support to the food nor do they cushion the soles of the feet hugely but for casual use and not hiking they're fine!

      Price and Value:
£25. I feel for 100% leather this is a bargain and the fact they're so versatile and soft makes them 100% worth every penny.

      Sizing and Colour Options:
Colours: Camel (Black and mustard yellow), or Black.
      Sizing: UK 3-8.

Overall opinion: Well worth the money i paid for them and i wear them daily to uni as they're lovely and soft. Ideal for anyone who wants a well priced, high quality pair of leather shoes.

A great pair of plain black ballet pumps

I don't always wear heeled shoes despite the fact that I have so many pairs of high heels! Sometimes it is nice to just put a pair of flat shoes on and be comfortable but again I find flat shoes can be a bit hit or miss as the cheaper end of the market tend to be made of quite a stiff material which don't really bend and end up rubbing but the place I always return to, to buy good quality and comfortable flat shoes is Topshop.

One pair of flat shoes which I am very loyal to is their Malachy Leather Ballet Pumps. I came across these flatties over a year ago as I wanted something for work and for home but I just wanted plain black ballet pumps and trying to find a pair which were leather and cost under £50.00 was quite a hard task! But Topshop came to my rescue and I immediately bought my pair after trying them on.

Malachy as you can see from the picture are plain black leather ballet pumps which have a little bow (which does need to be tied) at the front which is made out of a shoe lace type material. The sole of the shoe is synthetic and the footbed really does not have any padding to it at all so these shoes are pretty much completely flat so may be uncomfortable to those who need a bit of support.

Malachy are made of a super soft leather and do crease easily so I have found but due to the leather being so soft they are extremely comfortable. However, I did find that the first few times I wore these they did rub my one heel and it took quite a while for them not to rub but I did persevere and now they are fine but I have find the leather has softened a bit too much and they do look a bit out of shape but I do wear them regularly so this may have something to do with it.

Because they are leather they do need looking after and despite keeping them polished I have noticed that they have scuffed around the tiny heel (due to driving in them) and around the sides and at the front due to basically wearing them which is a bit of a shame but I guess this is just the nature of the shoes a bit of black polish does tend to hide the scuff marks quite well. May be I shouldn't have expected so much from them!

Malachy are available in Topshop and come in sizes 3 to 8. The currently cost £25.00 per pair which I do think is incredibly good value and considering I have had mine over a year I think I have definitely got my monies worth even if they are starting to look a bit tired due to a lot of wear. I have had a look at these on Topshop's website and they are out of stock so it would be best to go in store and try these.

Overall, I have had many months of use out of these shoes and despite the rubbing to start off with the shoes are extremely comfortable to walk in and work in! I can wear these for hours upon end and my feet are perfectly fine. I would like a bit more support in them but for £25.00 you can't expect a lot but as I said they are comfortable, look smart but cute and certainly don't break the bank.
