A lovely pair of casual shoes

After purchasing a pair of gorgeous moccasins from Kurt Geiger (see my previous review - Kurt Geiger Lucinda) I was instantly hooked on how comfortable they are. I wanted another pair to save wearing my more expensive pair all the time as I found myself practically living in them especially round the house. My search led me to Topshop as I was browsing in their for something to wear for a friends 30th and as always I ended up looking at the shoes.

For my sins I managed to come home with two pairs of shoes from Topshop which were quickly hidden away from the other half as no doubt he would probably mention something - but of course I wouldn't have paid any attention. My now new favourite pair is a lovely pair of moccasins by Topshop called Marine and they come in grey.

What I like about these shoes is that they are incredibly soft to the point that if you are wearing them around the house you can't tell the difference between these and a pair of slippers. They are made of suede leather so it is best that you don't wear them in wet weather but if you want to then ensure you use a suede protector so they don't get ruined. The leather is incredibly soft right from the word go and I found that they didn't rub me whatsoever. The leather does give a little so just make sure you buy the correct size as you may find that once the leather softens that they may be a little big for you. Definitely try them on in store as the soft suede leather can be deceiving! But once they are worn in the suede leather holds its shape well but I have noticed that mine have already started to gape a little at the sides but I think that is because I wear them so often but this is still an issue when it comes to shoes made out of such a soft material then this is bound to happen.

The detail on these shoes is quite cute. The lace up detail around the shoe is lovely and the holes in the sides of the shoes are protected with metal rivets so the leather won't fray and neither with the soft white laces that run through the sides. At the front of the shoe there is a little bow where the laces meet and of course keeps the laces in the shoe - try not to let the bow undo as the laces may come out or get dirty should they go on the floor. The moccasins have a slight round toe with a lovely whipstitch again in a white, almost light grey cotton at the front to add a little detail. The fringe at the front of the shoe is also made of the soft suede leather and can be a problem when it starts to curl up when they have been worn a lot but fortunately as the fringe has been cut quite short so far mine is still flat against the shoe.

The sole to the shoes is grey and very thin so don't expect any padding for your feet! The sole is almost like a hard rubber, synthetic material which takes wear well and so far mine although marked and worn slightly they are in great condition. The lining of the shoes is the same colour grey as the shoe itself which matches nicely.

I am really pleased with my pair. I find them incredibly comfortable to wear all day whether I am wearing them in the house or out and about they never fail to be comfortable. You do have to be careful with them in wet weather as I said above so just ensure you purchase a leather protector as they will stain should they get wet. They are a delicate shoe which are pretty flexible due to the sole so be gentle with them, don't abuse them too much as they won't be able to put up with it. They have never rubbed my feet and right from the word go the leather softened a little so they were a little more supple around your feet. The only downside is the slight gaping around the sides and if you have really narrow feet you will notice this.

Marine are available from Topshop stores and concessions and cost £32.00 which I think is an absolute bargain for such a comfortable, casual pair of shoes. Sizes start from a 3 and go up to an 8. They only come in grey. Definitely a recommendation from me!
