“ Brand:Topshop / Type: Boots „
I LOVE shoe boots. Love them. They're so versatile. I wear them for work with either tights and a dress or skirt, or with long or peg trousers. You can dress them up or down, and they give height and smarten up any outfit without looking like you've put on your going out high heels.
I have a pair of shoe boots in black leather and a pair in grey suede. I prefer leather shoes as suede over time does rub off and look messy, and it's not waterproof (which sort of defeats the object a bit for boots). So when I was looking for some new shoes, I decided to get some in a summer style - brown leather, and open toe.
When I saw the Topshop Sue Tan Lace Up Shoe Boots I fell in love with them straight away. They're so nice - they're styled in a brown leather with a functional cord lace up on each one. They're an open toe style with waffle type sides and with a reasonable 4 inch reinforced heel. I knew that if I bought them they'd be well used as they look like the type of style to compliment any summer outfit.
Buy them I did, and was pleased to find that the sizing is spot on (I'm a 7, though Topshop sells shoes in European sizes, there is a conversion guide on their website.) As these are laced shoes in a soft leather, they are very stretchy and forgiving so excellent for wide fitting feet.
The heel isn't cushioned like my Clarks pair are, but they are quite comfortable for heels and they do allow air to your foot, so they remain cool on hot days. You can, of course, wear a pair of black tights with these shoes on less fine days - they look great with tights even though they are an open style.
The shoes do have a reasonable 4 inch heel, more than high enough for me (in fact probably the highest I would go) and the front of the shoe is a half inch platform which gives it a modern look and means the shoes are nice and hard wearing.
I wear these heels with skinny jeans and trousers, tea dresses, leggings and tunic tops, skirts and even shorts. They're incredibly versatile, look ever so slightly vintage, and are really easy to accessorise with a brown cinch belt, tan handbag, or even brown leather jacket. They are a pair of 'go to' shoes in that whatever you're wearing chances are they'll go with it. I do love them and I do use them regularly. I've even worn them to a wedding and dressed them up with a formal mint green dress, which looked lovely.
The only thing which *might* put you off is the price - these aren't cheap at £85, but you need to take into consideration they are leather shoes, which many high street fashion shoes aren't. They are very well made and pretty unique (I've never seen a similar cheaper pair) and they will last you - most cheaper high street shoes will last you maybe a year, but these should, with care, last you much longer than that (I have a pair of leather Office heels I've had five years now and they're still as good as new!), so I think the benefits from spending a little more are certainly apparent.
Overall I do love the Topshop Sue Tan Lace Up Shoe Boots and I highly recommend them as a very fashionable and versatile summer alternative to a closed shoe boot. Whatever your personal style is I am sure you will find these compliment your wardrobe well. I'll give them 5 stars out of 5 despite the slightly raised price tag because they have genuinely been worth every penny, and I'm very happy with them.
These are like the usual ankle boots that are around right now, but are heeled with a slightly platformed sole. The pretty woven effect on the sides of each boot adds a classy, unique vintage feel to them. They're lace up's and peep toed, with a very decent sized heel which i'd guess is around the 4-5 inch mark. The heels very thin but not over-the-top thin and unlike some heels they're not like chopsticks! They give great height and aren't blatantley obvious when wearing them how tall they really are, instead giving visual length to the legs. The boots come in a beautiful pale tan (light brown) colour which i personally love. The laces are also tan so merge well into the boot. They remind me a bit of brouges crossed with gladiator sandles and are bang on trend right now! They go well with any outfit and are versatile; i'm able to wear them with jeans, a skirt, or a dress without worrying they'll clash.
They're nice and soft and support my ankles well. I feel the heel gives a decent amount of support but i struggle to walk in them for more than 20 minutes or so due to the height; i wouldn't wear them to a club either unless i'd be mainly sitting down in them! For the girls who wear heels regulary though this shouldn't be a problem.
Price and Value:
£85. In my opinion this is expensive but because they're so unique, good quality (as mentioned above, they're 100% leather) and classy, they're worth it. Available instore and online (topshop.com)
So i was on the search for a new pair of heels, i wanted something that would go with almost anything, as when i get new shoes, i tend to want to wear them everywhere. I came across these in topshop, and by looking at them, i instantly loved them. However, on looking at the price i was a little put off, £85?! still, after looking around for a while and not finding anything i liked as much, i decided to buy them. The first issue i had was size, for people who are unaware, topshop sell there shoes in european size, and this seriously confused me, so a 3 is a 36, a size 4 is a 37 etc etc.
These shoes are leather, and look brilliant quality, the nice thing about leather shoes rather than suede or a cheaper material is that they are very easy to clean, and very difficult to damage, and thus seem to last forever. So these i would say are an investment buy. The heels on these shoes are very high, and make your legs look so long its amazing, but if you are not used to walking in high shoes, you may need to practice a bit before you attempt to leave the house in these! These shoes are a lot more comfortable than i thought they would be, however, after a long night in them your feet will hurt, but this is inevitable with high shoes, and so nothing really to complain about.
These shoes go with pretty much anything, they work well as a summer or spring daytime look with a nice summer dress, and also are perfect for a night out. However the laces on the shoes for a night out seemed a bit of an issue, as they seemed to come undone a lot, something i probably should have anticipated, but i became very irritated with having to go tie my shoes up every so often. But this seemed a small price to pay for shoes of this quality (the £85 seemed less of a small price to pay!)
While i do love these shoes, you can get very similar styles and designs in other shoe shops for less than £85, however, i didn't think any of the ones i myself have seen were as nice, so i guess the question is would you rather have similar shoes that weren't quite right for less, or pay more for the ones you love? I myself would rather pay more for ones i love, and these shoes are good quality, look amazing, go with everything, and are not too uncomfortable as far as high heels go.........only possible issue is the price, but if your willing to pay it i think you'll find these shoes are worth it and work for pretty much any occasion, theres also the fact that topshop offers 10% student discount which may make a decent saving for those of you who are students!
