Ugg Boots: Classic Tall
I have been in love with Uggs since I saw Jessica Simpson wearing a pair but after much research into them I found them to be a little on the expensive side, seeing as my bank account could not compete with Ms.Simpson's! So I have always admired them from afar and have stuck with own brand instore types of Uggs from places such as George, New Look and mostly Primark. Over the last couple of years I have been through many pairs of these store type ones and they have never lasted more than a couple of months. They have always worn very quickly, especially the soles. So you can imagine my surprise when my husband presented me with a gift at the beginning of the year and the said gift was a pair of Classic Tall Uggs in black. To say I was shocked, surprised and incredibly happy is a bit of an understatement!
Uggs are made by a company called Ugg Australia and have become increasingly popular over the last few years, mainly because of the amount of celebrities you see wearing them. Uggs are made from 100% sheepskin and is one of very few brands which use 100% sheepskin. Uggs come in a variety of designs and colours. You can have the Classic Tall, Classic Short, Bailey Buttons and Cardy to name a few. The most recognisable of the Uggs would be the ones which are in the chestnut colour but they also come in black, chocolate, sand and gold to name but a few. There is a massive variety over a big range so there is plenty to choose from.
You can always tell when someone is wearing a pair of Ugg boots because of the iconic stitched on tag on the heel of the boot which is black (on my ones as they are the black Uggs) and has the words "Ugg Australia" written in the Ugg font and it is in white.
My husband got my Ugg boots from John Lewis at the beginning of the year and I think he paid £160 for them. It was still too expensive in my opinion but the minute I saw the brown Ugg box I was in love and couldn't wait to rip them out of the box and get them on my feet!
My Uggs came in a brown box with the "Ugg" logo on the front. It is a simple and stylish box but you instantly get excited at the sight of it (unless that is just sad little me!). Upon opening the box, I was greeted by the sight of my beautiful black Uggs in a plastic bag covering them, again the plastic bag was covered in the Ugg logo in orange. Underneath the boots themselves was the certificate of authenticity from Ugg themselves.
Removing the Uggs from the plastic I was met with a nice new smell - suade meeting the rubber of the soles. The Uggs themselves are quite lightweight which makes them amazing to wear and it feels as though you have nothing on your feet.
My Uggs are black and they are the blackest of black. The suade material is gorgeous to touch; it is extremely soft and pleasant to touch. As mine are the Classic Tall, they measure 12.5 inches in height and come to just under my knee when I am wearing them. You don't have to wear them so long though. If you get bored of wearing them like this, you can fold the top of the Uggs down to reveal the sheepskin inside and wear them folded down which looks equally as nice with jeans tucked into them.
The Uggs have little ridges on them on the outer which makes it look as though they are inside out but it is just part of the design.
The inside of the Uggs is made completely of sheepskin and depending on which colour outer Uggs you have will depend on the colour of the sheepskin as mine is black, the sheepskin inside is black. Putting my feet into my Uggs is amazing each and everytime. I have tried my Uggs without socks and the sheepskin is extremely soft against the skin. When wearing socks the sheepskin keeps my feet warm and snug. They are absolutely perfect for the cold and harsh winter months.
Uggs have rubber solid rubber soles and again depending on what colour the outer of your Uggs are will determine the colour of the soles. My soles are black and they are ridged underneath for added grip and in the centre there is the Ugg logo. The soles feel very sturdy and strong to withstand the harshest of weather.
Uggs are not just for the winter months and they can be worn in the summer but I did try this and for me personally I found my feet just got much too hot. You are not supposed to wear your Uggs in the rain or wet weather as it can damage them and they are not meant for wet weather. They are not waterproof and rain water can stain them. I have not worn them in the rain but no doubt there will be an occassion this winter when I have to. I did however wear them when it was really icy out at the beginning of the year and I was very surprised at how well they gripped and held me upright! Usually I would be slipping and sliding all over the place but my Uggs felt like they stuck to the ice.
Although my Uggs were more than expensive I do think they were worth every penny. They are warm, comfortable to the point that you forget you have even got them on your feet and they go with so many different items of clothing. I lived in them for the first 4 months of the year and no doubt I will live in them throughout the winter.
They are made to a really high quality and you can tell just by looking at them that they are an expensive brand of boot. Hopefully they will be long lasting. Even after wearing them for 4 months of the year non stop, they still look as good as new.
Excellent product and well worth spending the money on.
