Ugg Boots: Classic Tall
Advantages: Very comfortable, keep feet warm in the winter
Disadvantages: Cannot wear in the rain, expensive
UGGs are like marmite, you either love them or you hate them. I know that some will argue that the UGG style of shoes is well, UGGly, but I personally quite like the look of them as a casual shoe.
I purchased a pair of the classic tall UGGs in chestnut brown last winter. I bought these in House of Fraser when they had a discount weekend on. I got these for £160 instead of the full price which was £210 at the time. However I have just checked the House of Fraser website and I notice that this year the same boots are being sold for £200. This pair of boots was actually my second pair of UGGs. I previously had an identical pair which lasted me 3 years before being too worn to wear.
These boots are ridiculously comfortable. It is like putting on a pair of slippers that you can wear outside without looking silly. They literally hug your feet, and it is possible to walk for miles in a pair of UGGs without getting a blister or sore feet! For those of you who have never tried on a pair of UGGs, I would definitely recommend it so you can see just how comfy these are.
UGGs are made from sheepskin, the manufacturers claim they will keep your feet warm on a cold day and cool on a warm day. I disagree with this statement, as while they keep my feet toasty warm in the winter, I have often made the mistake of wearing these on a sunny spring day and my feet have been uncomfortably hot!! Many people wear UGGs with bare feet, but I personally prefer to wear socks underneath these.
Prior to wearing a new pair of UGGs it is advisable to treat them with a water repellent spray. I purchased one of these in a standard shoe shop and treated my UGGs after buying. I still do find that these boots are not suitable for a wet day as the suede easily stains and the water marks will not go away. Obviously this is not ideal as many cold days are also wet!!
I have average sized calves and I find that the tall UGG boots are slightly tight around the calf. However they do stretch a little upon wearing. For this reason it is sometimes a good idea to buy a size smaller than your usual size. It is also worth noting that the children's UGGs go up to size 5, meaning they will fit many adults as well. The children's UGGs are identical to the adults only they are slightly cheaper!
So in summary, while these may not be the most trendy boots in the world, I still think they look good and they make sore feet a thing of the past! If you are thinking of buying a pair, definitely shop around as prices can vary. It is also a good idea to be wary of fakes, as there are many dodgy Internet sites selling these.
Thanks for reading my review and I hope you found it useful.
