Ugg Boots: Classic Tall
Advantages: Comfortable, well made
Its fair to say I have wanted a pair of Ugg boots for a very long time. I first started lusting after them at around age 14 so we are talking 9 years ago now. I have always wanted the classic tall boots and although initially I did fancy the sand colour this quickly changed to chestnut.
My family and friends were quite aware of my love for Uggs and my parents and my now ex partner offered to buy them for me for Christmas numerous times but I kept shying away from the idea because of the price - retailing around the £200 mark they are quite expensive for a pair of casual boots. However, last Christmas I finally bit the bullet and received some from my ex.
==Who are Ugg?==
Ugg Australia are what many people would refer to as the original ugg style boot specialists. The boots originate from Australia where surfers began wearing sheepskin footwar to keep warm when out of the water. Uggs were first produced in 1978 by Brian Smith. The boots became more and more popular and by the mid 1980s they were well known amongst surfers. However, it wasn't until around the year 2000 that the worlds real love for Uggs began with celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey declaring their love for the brand.
==Styles of Ugg==
Originally the classic style boot was by far the most popular range from Ugg. However, over recent years Ugg have really expanded and they now sell all sorts of footwear alongside other accessories. I own two pairs of flip flops from Ugg and the brand also produce shoes, slippers, hats and bags.
Ugg produce footwear for both women and men and they also make smaller shoes for babies and children.

Uggs are one of the most reproduced brands in the world and therefore if you are to be shelling out this sort of money on a pair of shoes you want to ensure you are getting the real deal as fakes are pretty much always of a poor quality and are made from cheap materials meaning that they will not last.
Genuine Uggs will have a certificate of authenticity and a special sticker on the box. However, in my opinion it is important to shop from a well known and approved Ugg dealer as although this may cost slightly more you will be certain you are getting the real thing.
Uggs can be found both in store and online. Approved retailers include:
High street retailers include USC, Russell and Bromley and Treds.
==Buying the boots and sizing==
Uggs are sold in American sizes but most stores will convert this into British sizing. Many people suggest taking a size up from what you usually wear. I would recommend this but only if you are between sizes. Personally I knew I would need to try mine on first so I bought in store. I almost always take a size 7 but can wear a 6.5. I asked for a 7 (US 9) and they fit like a glove. It really is like they were made for me.
==Wearing the boots==
To get the boots on you simply put your foot in and pull them on, there are no zips etc. I find mine much easier to put on sat down but they are easy enough to pull on wherever I just worry I might end up stamping on the reinforced heel!
So as soon as I wore these the first time I was very pleased. I have had probably around 20 pairs of cheaper style Uggs over the years but with these you could immediately tell you had the real thing. The sheepskin is soft and thick and they are so comfortable it really doesn't feel like you have anything on your feet.
They are so comfortable to walk in and they have never caused my feet any pain. At home I like to be barefoot and if I wear shoes for a prolonged period of time I often experience pad pain but I have worn these for 12 hours some days and my feet have felt fine afterwards. The boots are heavier than cheaper alternatives but they do not weigh down my feet. The sheepskin really helps to cushion the foot and provides luxurious comfort.
I usually pair my boots with skinny jeans and they go really well with these. The boots fit nicely around my calf muscle and they look good on.
They support my foot well and hold it upright. The boots do not start to fall over like so many cheaper brands do and they are very comfortable. The sheepskin helps to regulate temperature and although they keep my feet warm and snug I have never experienced having hot feet which is great as I hate this.
When I first got these I used to put them back in their box all wrapped up for when I next wore them but I wear them pretty much every time I leave the house so now I put them on the top of our shoe rack. As they have the reinforced heel the boots stay upright by themselves and do not flop over.
I am super careful with my boots but they have experienced rain and the occasional bit of dirt etc. So far this hasn't been a problem and although there are a few very slight marks they still look pretty much brand new. However, I will be purchasing a special Ugg care kit soon with sprays and brushes to help me keeping my Uggs looking their best.
I'm sure you can tell, I love my Uggs. I had extremely high expectations of these after waiting for them for the best part of a decade but I am very pleased with them. Of course, the design won't be to everyones taste but I love the design.
They are hands down the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. They are soft and supportive and keep your feet warm without making them too hot.
I will definitely be buying another pair of Uggs in the future. They are expensive but you really get what you pay for and they provide feet with some much needed TLC.
Summary: Brilliant boots
