Advantages: Warm and snuggley
Disadvantages: Not waterproof and are expensive
I've had my classic short chocolate Ugg boots now for nearly two years. At first I couldn't understand what all the fuss was about but once I actually put them on my feet it all became quite clear.
**My experience**
I chose the chocolate colour because I felt the colour would match with a lot of outfits, it's a wintery colour and also dark so I hoped that they wouldn't get noticeably dirty quickly. On first putting the ugg boots on (you are meant to wear them without socks) the sheepshin is so so soft and snuggley on your feet its like no other shoes I've ever tried on. I was a convert immediately!.
So after wearing my uggs pretty much every day for a whole winter I came to find some problems with the phenomenon. Puddles are a problem that uggs find hard to deal with. I would recommend avoiding wearing them on wet days. I have found that the toe ends of my uggs get wet very quickly when it is raining or there are puddles. Not only does this make your feet wet and cold it also means that over time a water mark stain starts to develop on the boots. Even on the brown ones. This is a problem for me because the official ugg cleaning kit costs about £20 which is rather expensive. I would recommend buying the kit with the boots in future because you need to keep them protected to keep them clean Although as anyone will know the boots themselves are very expensive so this really just adds to the amount you'll have to pay. Not a great deal.
If I am honest the boots definitely keep your feet warm. Although I now tend to wear mine with socks as some of the inside sheepshin has worn down and they are more comfy with socks. But my boots are quite old now (time for a new pair?!). However, Ugg Australia claim that the boots will keep your feet cool in hot weather which is simply not the case at all. They just get hot and sweaty which is not very pleasant.
What I do love about the boots is that they come in a great selection of colours and styles and do tend to look good with a number of outfits. My favourite is wearing them with skinny jeans as they tend to look great whatever else you wear them with. I do understand though why many people think they are hideous. I think I've just become used to the look now but I still think they are a strange shape and if you have big feet will probably not be very flattering for you.
**Advantages**
*The most comfortable shoes you will ever wear
*Keep you warm in the coldest weather
*A range of styles and colours
**Disadvantages**
*Water can seep through the boots and stain them which is difficult to clean cheaply
*Do not keep your feet cool in hot weather
*Price (£100++)
*They can look ugly
**Overall Opinion**
A brilliant boot to buy to keep you warm in cold weather and they are so comfortable you will have to try them on to understand the hype. However, they are really useless in the rain and you will worry about getting them dirty, which makes you wonder whether they are worth the money spent on them, especially with the wet winters we have in Britain.
Summary: Great for keeping your feet warm and comfortable

- 19/10/09 My nephew in Australia sent me a pair of slippers which I thought would make my feet rather sweaty but suprisingly they dont and they are warm and cosy too. |
