You don't need to be pretty just comfortable (Ugg Boots)

A couple of years back the celebrity magazines were full of these funny looking boots. We soon learned that these were UGG boots the new big celebrity trend. Since this trend started it has propelled itself into something that a lot of women (and men) want. Imitations have been created, specific UGG boot stores have been opened and you now see them everywhere.

Sheepskin boots have been worn in Australia for years and in 1978 Brian Smith took some over to the USA with him. Ove rthe years they became popular with surfers but finally came into the mainstream. The Ugg Australia brand has particularly grown over the last few years. They are a high end product that is seen as a luxury.

I have always wanted a pair of these myself but at the price they are I never could quite afford them. A few weeks ago for my birthday though my friends and my boyfriend donated money so I could get some. I was so excited! I went to the UGG store in Westfield as we live local to this to try and get some. There are three UGG stores in the UK, two in London and one in Manchester. You can also buy UGGs from some other stores including Office and also on some online retailers websites. The best selection are in the official UGG stores and they can also be purchased online on their website.

The UGG store is a bit of an experience itself as when you get there you normally have to queue outside as they have a 'bouncer' on the door. I think they have done this to try and make sure the store doesn't get too full and it probably puts off people wandering in who aren't too interested. There are many different types of UGGs available for children, women and men. These range from wellie boots to slippers. There are also other items like hats and gloves available.

Once you choose the ones you like there are loads of assistants in the store who can help you. I think this is one of the great things about the brand as if you are buying an expensive product it is unlikely to be an impulse buy so you want someone who will help you.

The sizes of the boots and shoes are based on American sizes so they actually come only in half sizes. This is great for me as I am a 5 and a half but for other people you may have to go for a smaller or bigger size. I actually tried on the 6 and a half first as i usually wear size 6's and the assistant pointed out how big they were and the 5 and a halfs fitted much better. This was another advantage of going to the store as you wouldn't know how they will fit if you order them online.

Unfortunately when I went to the store they didn't have the boots I wanted in the right size. They do get new orders in on Tuesdays and Fridays so these may be the best days to go and visit.

I ended up ordering the boots from a site called Shudoo as they had a 20% off offer so I actually saved money by doing this. The boots I bought were £150 pounds , which is the same price as the UGG store but I managed to get them for £120 with the offer.

Anyway I have talked enough about the purchasing process so will now talk about the Boots. The boots come in a number of different colours and shapes. The ones i bought were the short classics in a chestnut colour.

The UGGs don't look like the most attractive shoes. They are quite chunky looking in their shape and very rounded. They have a suade outside to them which has a nice look but I can imagine is not the best fabric to wear out in the rain, so I wouldn't say the UGGs would be ideal for this. I would also be slightly concerned at getting the very light coloured ones as I think they will attract dirt and muck fairly easilly. You can actually buy care kits and stain repellant which I think I might do after spending so much on the Boots!

The inside of the Boots is what is the best part of them I think. This inside is wool , which is extremely soft and very thick. This means that when you put the shoe on they are really comfortable. This wool is all inside the boots so not just on the outside but also on the bottom where you put your foot. It is advised that you don't wear socks as the wool actually acts as a sock inside the boot. Also because it is natural material your feet will not sweat, which means you can wear them in hot or cold weather. If you wear socks your feet will sweat inside these. They are also comforable when you are walking. I can't imagine these would ever rub you with how soft they are inside. The sole is quite thick so you won't feel the floor when you are walking. The Boots are easy to put on as you just slip them on and off. I have got some cheaper UGG style boots but they just aren't as comfortable and do not feel like they were made as well.

On the back of the Boot is the UGG Australia Logo. Uggs aren't actually just from this company but these are the ones that all the celebrities wear so tend to be the ones everyone wants. This logo on the back shows where they come from. There are a lot of cheaper imitations as I said earlier and these often try and copy the labels etc so I would get them from a retailer that is known to have real ones so you know that you aren't getting conned. The real UGG Australia boots are obviously made of quality materials so you need to be careful with imitations.

I know that UGG boots are expensive with the cheapest being the ones I bought but I would definitely say it is worth it if you want an extremely comfortable pair of boots.

Overall I think UGG boots are a great buy and I would recommend them to anyone.
