I was not really a huge fan of Ugg boots until I moved up to Scotland and then I really appreciated the warmth, comfort and quality of them. I have had three pairs in the past couple of years. I tend to go for the more unusual styles and limited edition Ugg boots rather than the Classic or Knitted styles available, which is why I went for these back in September, the Ugg Australia Kensington Biker Boot in Black Leather.
The comfort factor with Ugg boots come from their sheepskin usage in their boots, by selecting the highest quality Twinface sheepskin available this material naturally keeps your feet cool and warm at the same time also keeping your feet very cosy in the boot. This material is used in all Ugg designs and styles and the sheepskin is what defines them.
The Ugg Australia Kensington Biker Boot in Black Leather is a different Ugg boot to the other styles on sale this last winter. Often Ugg boots have very little visible on the outside particularly the suede classic styles. This is a mid calf length boot that is great for wearing with jeans and shorter skirts. I have these in black leather though they are also available in 'Toast' and 'Lavender' colours. The black is a slightly mottled colour but a very dark shade; they have a slight shine to them as well which has lasted well over the winter period.
Being black in colour I was surprised that they didn't show any signs of scuffing after a few months wear.
The leather seems to be very thick and I think this must be why they still look new even now as I have definitely given them a few knocks and scrapings over the months. The leather material used is very waterproof and snow proof I must add. I have never experienced dampness or leakages occurring when out in the bad weather which you might get from the suede and knitted Ugg boots, which is what you ideally need from a winter boot.
The boot has two Ugg branded silver coloured buckle straps present, one by the ankle area and on the other on the top of the calf area of the boot. These are fully functional and adjust the fitting of your boot, I have not had to change these since I bought them but might be useful for people with slender legs. The straps also have silver studs on them which add more detail to the boot. The heel of the shoe has a silver branded plate with Ugg written on in big letters which looks stylish and modern.
The boot is quite heavy to wear being leather and although the sole is lightweight rubber it can give you quite a workout wearing them all day long, which I think is a good thing. The inside being 100% sheepskin is very comfortable and warm, but can get a bit too warm once you hit March time and it feels quite sweaty/uncomfortable to wear. They are a very snug fit; I got the size above my normal shoe size and space wise they are great inside, though round the ankle area they are rather tight and this makes getting them off quite a struggle. This is also hindered by them being leather, where although they will last longer than suede Uggs they are not as flexible.
The price of these boots is £249.99, in Office at the moment the brown and beige colours are in the sale at £200, which would be a bargain price to grab these for next winter. As stated they have barely a mark on them and I think these will last me a good few winters to come. They are definitely a good investment that can be worn as both a casual and work wear shoe. I would recommend these Ugg boots for both style and functionality. 5 Stars!
