Advantages: really comfortable, stylish, warm for winte, good sole, easy to put on
Disadvantages: nothing but sizing a bit hit and miss
My daughter turned 3 in august, and each birthday, christmas and chinese new year she receives money in a red envelope. Her dad is chinese and normally I put this money into her bank account to save for her future but he always moans at me we are supposed to use the money to buy her something! So this year I was in oxford street as my sisters birthday is 5 days after hers and I was doing some shopping for her when I saw these cute little booties in Selfridges. I am a big ugg fan myself, as they are super comfortable and really durable, especially with the winter months so I knew they would be a good buy.
The boots come in black, pink and chestnut. Sadly they didn't have black in her size which I thought would have been more practical so I ended up buying her a chestnut pair (essentially a tan/brown colour!) as last year she had a similar pair from baby gap in pink which with hindisght got incredibly dirty super quick and I wanted some that would last and look nice!
The boots themselves are representative of typical ugg style. They have a creamy suede and fluffy sheepskin cuff which goes around the top of the boot which looks and feels warm and stylish. They have a suede upper which is soft and authentic, and the lining inside is cotton, which I think represents these being cheaper than other children's (and adults!) ugg boots as they are not lined with fur like the others, except on the insole footbed. Nevertheless, the lining and material of the ugg boot is really warm and thermal and my daughter has been living in these the past week and jumping in lots of muddy puddles (eek!) and her feet have stayed completely dry and warm. Another brilliant feature about the Jorie boots is that it has an easy access zipper on the inside to allow my 3 year old daughter to put her boots on herself with ease and no help from mummy!
The sole is made of rubber, and has the traditional Ugg logo imbedded on the sole so you know they are genuine. I prefer the rubber sole on these boots as they look and feel similar to latex which is a cushioning sole and much more durable than the soles on the classic uggs with the ridged sole. My daughter is a particularly clumsy so and so and I think she has some co-ordination issues as when she runs she tends to fall over quite easily! I used to think it was due to buying her supportive but heavy and clompy footwear, and with these I think they give her a bit more stability. They come up over her ankle giving her good ankle support and they have a wide enough entry that she can wear these with jeans/leggings which can be tucked into the boot easily, yet at the same time she can wear these boots with a skirt and pair of tights and her slim legs don't look odd with a big gape around the ankle where she has the boots on.
In terms of sizing I generally find Uggs quite big, and with my own adult pair they are not true to size I need to go down a size. I found this similar with my daughter's Jorie Ugg boots as I bought her a European size 25 which is equivalent to a UK 7 with the ugg size chart. As mentioned before I bought these in august when she was already wearing a 25 in other branding footwear, as they looked rather large and I of course wanted them for the winter months and of course her feet would still be growing. She is now wearing them in october and her toe doesn't reach the end so I think these will serve her well up to christmas so we will get our money's worth!
These are £45 in the Ugg store, and on their website and I think for long lasting, warm and stylish children's ugg boots this price is more than fair and reasonable. I have spent in the region of this price on other footwear for her which she hasn't got as much use out of so I can't quarrel, neither can her dad so this is some of her birthday money well spent!
Summary: brilliant ugg boots which my daughter loves! now i want a pair but they don't go up to my size :(
