Vans Classic Slip-On Shoes
Advantages: Look great on men, lots of variety of colours and designs
Disadvantages: expensive, not the most attractive styles for women
Although I used to think, and I think that probably most people do think this as well, that Vans shoes were more suited towards guys than girls, I did actually used to have a pair. This was a couple of years ago when I went through a phase of wearing them all the time.
I didn't actually go out and buy myself a pair, I don't think that would have ever happened because the shoe didn't really fit in with what my style was like and nowadays I don't think I would ever wear these again either to be honest, only around the house for lazing around in.
No, instead I was actually given a pair. Not as a present for Christmas or my birthday or anything, but instead they were handed down to me by a friend of a friend who had bought some but they were too small. The reason they had given them to me of all people was because we often swap things that we don't want or need, as a sort of recycling thing we have going on.
At first when I got them I wasn't really too sure about wearing them. But after I'd tried them on and walked around in them a few times I was quite surprised to find myself really liking them.
They were a perfect fit and soooo comfortable. I had a pair of Converse which some people might consider quite to be quite similar to these - well these are definitely my favourite out of the pair of them for comfort, among other things. I began wearing them as slippers around the house, but when I saw that they didn't look too bad under my jeans I wore them out and about out doors as well. Although they aren't very good for muddy lanes which I have a lot of round where I live, and they won't keep your feet dry if you walk through wet grass or are out in the rain, they are a great shoe for the dryer times of the year when you just want a comfy shoe to laze around in. Actually I think that is a really suitable way to describe these; as a lazy shoe.
As far as style goes these aren't the best looking footwear you can buy. They do look quite boyish and aren't really girly and won't make your feet look attractive. You definitely couldn't get away with wearing these out to a job interview, or in a posh restaurant which again proves that they are just a lazy shoe.
You can get all sorts of different colours and designs printed onto your shoe. You can get all over plain white, all over plain black, grey, black and white checkered, pink and black checkered etc. I have even seen a pair with skulls on them before now. So there is a lot of choice and variety when it comes to choosing the style you want.
The shoes lasted me about a year but I ended up having to throw them away after I accidentally left them outside once, and on that night unfortunately it happended to snow. Apart from this I think I would have ended up still having them now.
When I saw the prices of how much they cost new I was put off buying another pair. Basically I wrote this review after I reviewed Classic Converse shoes the other day, because I know a lot of people consider the two shoes as rival shoes and I have owned both before. I wanted to get my opinion across which is that these ones are the best shoe out of the both of them.
Anyway back to the prices, I was shocked because they really are so expensive. I have seen them priced around £40 which is just ridiculous. For this much they can not be justified but if you do find some cheaper then for comfort I would recommend them.
Summary: Too expensive but I would recommend them if they were cheaper
