I wore Vans throughout my younger teen years when I was going through the "dress completely in black from head to toe" phase. I have to say that this pair of Vans were the comfiest shoes I have ever owned, with the thick spongy material which forms the inside of them seeming to be slippers when on!
The drawback of course is that they are bulky and hot and sweaty on a warm day. However, designed as they were with skateboarding in mind, they would fit the bill for a casual sports shoe with enough grip for the board but not enough grip for much else!
These come in a variety of colours and materials, with the most common being a type of suede finish or a simple faux leather finish. Mine were black and electric blue but I have seen them in all colours of the rainbow!
The laces can be swopped and changed for your own laces. Most Vans come with two colours of laces initially to be changed at your will. I also bought a new pair of rainbow laces for mine which looked very colourful and completely changed the shoe! This can give a lift to a tired shoe especially if the laces are frayed after heavy use.
--Pricing and availability--
Mine were bought at the "Sole" outlet in the Birmingham Bullring which I am unsure still exists as I haven't been for a long time! However, these are widely available in shoe shops such as Schuh and indeed online for approximately £45 a pair. This may seem pretty pricey but they are value for money as they last forever so if it's your son or daughter pleading for a pair, they will prove hard wearing for rough and tumble unlike many canvas shoe designs.
Another place I can think of to buy these are those surf clothing shops but these are very expensive outlets and are to be avoided if you're looking for a deal.
A solid and comfortable hard wearing casual shoe for the younger generation or for the older generation looking for a little comfort!
Vans are well known for making trainers and comfy shoes, and I own a fair few pairs of their trainers. One of those pairs are the Van Lavi 2 Plaid Skateboarding Shoes.
These are a black pair of trainers, with a multicoloured plain pattern on the Van symbol on the side of the trainer. They also have this pattern on the inside of the trainer and on the Vans logo on the top of the tongue. They come with black laces.
These trainers, are simple yet pretty to me and this is what attracted me to buying them. Usually new trainers can hurt a little bit before they are properly broken in, but I have never had any problem with these trainers and I have truly had many hours of wear out of them. They are slightly padded and cushioned on the inside, so they are very comfortable and almost feel like they are hugging your feet. Amazinly, I have worn these in the heat of summer and never found them to make my feet too hot and sweaty.
The laces are made of a thick, tightly woven material which holds together nicely and they are easy to re lace into any way or style you wish to have them in.
I think these trainers are very sturdy. I have owned mine for over a year now, and you couldn't tell how much I have worn them. I wear them so much, yet they look almost new. There is no scuffing or wearing to them, and the pattern on the inside has not worn away, which I find does happen with some other types of shoes and trainers. The sole of the shoe, albeit dirty, still looks pretty much in tact and all the grip and pattern is still there. Sometimes I wonder if I dreamt wearing these as they really do look well cared for, and I am known for abusing my trainers a little bit.
As I said before, these trainers have never hurt my feet, even when I have been on my feet all day. It is almost like wearing comfy slippers with laces! They are great for doing sports in, and I love to wear these trainers.
I bought mine off of Amazon, but it would appear they no longer sell these ones. You can find them from some stockists of Vans, in some Skate shops and there is a few pairs on eBay, new and used. I paid £30 for mine in a sale, but they may well be a lot cheaper now. It really is worth having a look around for a pair of these as they really are a brilliant pair of trainers.
I totally recommend these to every woman, as they truly are the most comfortable pair of trainers that will go with almost any outfit you can think of. If you can find yourself a pair, grab them! I can promise you that you will not regret buying these wonderful trainers.
