I bought these... 'shoes' last week and they're surprisingly comfy. They're basically gloves for your feet, with a little compartment for each toe. First thing to mention is that these are pretty expensive, with similar costs to high end trainers. Mine cost me £70, which is a little steep considering they're not shoes for everyday use or work.
I believe Vibram made these to simulate bare foot running, which is safer than running in regular trainers. I've also heard these are recommended to people with sports related injuries but need to keep on their feet. I've found them very comfortable to run in and actually more enjoyable than running in trainers.
A key issue with them, however is that they're fairly hideous. I myself don't mind looking at them, but you get very funny looks from strangers (and family members, for that matter) so if you care about what others think then you'd best avoid buying these.
To conclude; if you want a normal, good looking pair of trainers, avoid these. If however you want to try something a little different, these are worth taking a look because not only are they safer to run in - I actually found myself running faster in them!
