Donington race track, donington market and castle donington are all in leicestershire..... Don't be fooled by the derby postcode. Same goes for other well known leicestershire places that are near the borders. East midlands airport is not in Nottingham. Market Bosworth is not in Warwickshire. Belvoir Castle is not in Lincolnshire. Foxton Locks are not in Northamtonshire. Twycross zoo is not in Warwickshire etc....... Although, if these other counties want to poach some of these places, we might be willing to exchange them for Lincoln Cathedral, The Peak District & Stratford upon Avon!

Fab for a walk round and browsing!

Donnington Market is situated on donnington racetrack which is right next too East Midlands Airport. It runs every Sunday starting from about 8am. Its 50p per person too enter the market and children are free. I've been going to this market for years since I was a child. There used too be at least 10 asiles with all sorts of different stalls selling all sorts eg. Clothing, Tools, Baby Toys, Cosmetics, Body pericing & tattoos, Household cleaning, Furniture, Baby pushchairs accessories, Garden Items, Bikes, Sweets & food, Car & sound stalls, pet stores & More. Since missing it out for a few years as I was so busy. I recently started going again this summer too find there were only around 5 or 6 aisles. And mostly all of the stalls were selling the same things! There are more food carts and burger vans then there are actual stalls! I normally go to find a good bargain for christmas presents but unforunatly there are no decent baby stalls and also no toy stalls which I thought would of actually done quite well. Donnington Market has a good atmosphere and the smell of yummy sausage and burger food van make my day :) They have a small bouncy castle slide for the children too go on and sometimes have a little section where they have Owl's and birds too look at. I would definatly go as you might find something for you but I wouldn't count on the quality of the items from here.

The soon to be home to the British Grand Prix, Donnington Park is situated right next to East Midlands Airport and a short drive away from Derby. Donnington is also home to quite a big market which takes place every Sunday running through the day, ven though it has been there for years, I hadn't actually been until a couple of weeks ago as I have been told that it gets better towards Christmas and we wanted to go a little before CHristmas so it wasn't quite the mad rush as it apparently normally gets. With hundreds of various stalls over around 5 or 6 aisles, I was quite impressed by this market as it didn't seem to have all the tat that I normally associate with markets and I picked up quite a few bargains that I was really happy about. A lot of the stalls seems to do well here, you do get the odd car booter that is trying to make a quick buck by flogging all their junk however I noticed that a lot of people just bypassed these people and I couldn't imagine that they did much trade to be honest. Stalls included quite a pet stalls that I managed to get quite a few products that I could ut up for my dog for Christmas as pets like presents too, including a collar and a few toys and treats all at reasonable prices, branded and a lot cheaper than the likes of pets at home. There were many clothes stalls however I didn't really look at these as I wouldn't buy anything from a market purely because of the quality of the goods may not be up to scratch. A lot of gift stalls were there, which sold homely gifts including candles, and holders all at a resoanble price and of the same quality as you would get in department stores. I picked up a lot of these as Christmas presents which look a lot more expensive than what they cost. A favourite of mine was the meat stall or the meat man as I used to call them when I was younger and I came home with a lot of meat cheaper than buying from the abbatoir and also very tasty for a really good price. If you live near Donning Park and haven't been before it is definitely worth a look.
