Forbidden Planet (London) Shopping National

Newest Review: ... to discover that my order had not yet been dispatched, presumably because it was now out of stock. I know that it's common for online shops to mismanage stock and take too many orders, but the lack of a simple email (or indeed, any kind of contact or explanation) ensured that now I will never receive my order in time for Christmas. I have cancelled my order with forbiddenplanet.com and ordered the item from another website. Emails to their customer department have been ignored. This website has a good range of items for sale but I don't know how you can trust whether or not they are in stock, as obviously it is beyond them to keep y... more

Placed an order 2 weeks ago from this website. Today was wondering where it had got to. Had received no form of contact from the website since the order confirmation. Became worried as the product page now listed my item as out of stock. Signed into the website using my order details to discover that my order had not yet been dispatched, presumably because it was now out of stock. I know that it's common for online shops to mismanage stock and take too many orders, but the lack of a simple email (or indeed, any kind of contact or explanation) ensured that now I will never receive my order in time for Christmas. I have only been to the Forbidden Planet in London, so my review will be based on that store, although they do have a few more around the country, including one in Newcastle. The others are in Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Coventry, Croydon, Liverpool and Southampton. Forbidden Planet is basically the geeks dream world, selling comic books, action figures, wrestling goodies (YAY!) Twilight Merchandise, Manga, DVDs, Books, Clothing, Anime, Collectables and much, much more. They sell most things from the latest cult TV shows and Movies etc like Twilight, True Blood, Star Trek, Doctor Who and Batman. There is so much choice of stuff from different ...  Read the complete review

The Forbidden Planet shop in Manchester is located on Oldham Street, in the Northern Quarter - where all the quirky but trendy shops are. I can't imagine it fitting in anywhere else quite so well. It's not as busy as the one in London can be (which often has a queue for the tills that stretches to the back of the shop), but this can be beneficial as while the store is quite big, the displays on the first floor don't have much room between them. The shop is on two levels, ground floor with models, figurines, some books, computer games, TV and movie memorabilia, and posters. The basement has books and a huge comic section. It's great to have a look ...  Read the complete review

This is a review for Forbidden Planet's UK website, www.forbiddenplanet.co.uk, seeing as there are no Forbidden Planet stores anywhere near me. Forbidden Planet is basically a company that stocks "geek merchandise", that meaning T-shirts, graphic novels, and action figures that are in any way related to archetypically "geeky" and "cult" TV shows and films. For example, their home page at the moment has Iron Man and Star Wars figurines, while at the side they also sell NERF rocket launchers. I used the site recently to buy a Christmas present, and ordered the present on December 6th with the hope being that it would ...  Read the complete review

Forbidden Planet (London): I am forbidden from really saying anything great unfortunate ... (519 words)

Forbidden Planet was one the greatest shops in Stoke on Trent in the years that it was known as Another World and located in the arcade that is now TK Maxx, it was a stunner. It is a retailer of graphic novels, comics, computer games, cult and science fiction, band merchandise, DVD's, toys and magazines. If I were to write a review in its general section I would have given it more stars as some of the other stores are fantastic and its website is very good too. It has been in its new location for what must be a number of years now. Once you manage to fight your way in into the store with its exceptionally heavy metal door, you ...  Read the complete review
