Advantages: Nice layout
Disadvantages: Too expensive - no end of day reductions.
This was the shop you used to go to when you wanted to ensure that you got clothes that wouldn't fall apart, or for a special Christmas or birthday present from someone who would be happy to see that you'd got their gift in Marks as opposed to Woolworths.
However, this shop has got far too expensive over the years. Yes, their stuff is reasonable quality (and reasonable is all I would say) but their hiked prices are just not justified. I can get clothes from other stores which are the same quality and a fraction of the price. Marks, too, tend to be about ten years behind the times in the fashion stakes, and I'm afraid that the only time I can afford their clothes is at the tail end of sale-time, or at sale-time in the designer centres!
Another gripe about this store is the food hall. Not only is their stuff over-priced but it is no better than much cheaper stores. In fact last Christmas I treated us to their special Turkey gravy and it completely spoiled the Christmas dinner; just like tasteless water, and it was too late; I'd poured it all over the turkey. Apart from all that, though, at the end of the day they refuse to reduce prices of stuff to sell it. Maybe if they did that, then those of us who just can't afford to buy the stuff at full price might get the chance to try some of their products. What they do with it I have no idea, but common sense, surely, dictates that it would be better to sell stuff off at half price rather than leave it unsold!
Summary: You need a mortgage to shop here!
