Merry Hill Car-Parking ;

Or more to the point, traffic management.

Whilst i appreciate that christmas and the week or so immediately after it are very busy, Westfield, the owners of Merry Hill, do not seem to care about shoppers trying to get home afterwards.

There was no apparant sign of any traffic management, for shoppers trying to get home afterwards on 31st December from 3.30pm onwards.

Better management, staff directing traffic to help everyone move would work better than the shambolic state i found myself in along with hundreds of other motorists.

I suffer with Multiple Sclerosis, and cannot walk very well. I managed to get in to the car-park, just about, did 10 minutes shopping for some essentials only, returned to my car and sat and waited to move, and wait i did, for an hour, when i gave up. People around me said they had been there since 3.00pm, over an hour, and had not moved an inch! I managed to drag myself to the brewers wharf PH, where i telephoned for a taxi.

My wife and i returned later, with our 7 month old baby som, to retrieve my car, which luckily hadn't been locked behind a barrier.

Where were the staff, people trained to manage the traffic? You see these people at almost all major sporting venues and music festivals. It was only the sheer lunacy of some drivers and poor traffic flow which meant that we didn't move for almost 2 hours.

I was parked on the upper level car-park (open-air) nearest the child creche and walkway which leads to Burger King.

Personally, i would begin to restrict traffic entering the centre, say 2 hrs before closing time, put-down cones and give full advantage to people leaving. You could make most roads into 2 lanes, one-way, leading to the nearest and best route of exit for everyones benefit and have staff managing the exit situation of traffic. Rather than just letting people drive any which way they want and causing a traffic nightmare.

MUST TRY HARDER ! Not acceptable at all.

Was anyone else stuck like i was ?

Summary: Avoid christmas altogether.
