Advantages: variety of shops, good range of food and drink outlets, lots of parking spaces

Disadvantages: crowded at times

Merry Hill or Merry Hell as it's often referred to is situated in Brierley Hill near Dudley in the West Midlands. Boasting a large shopping centre with surrounding rows of shops outside and a large Odeon cinema Merry Hill is a paradise for people craving a retail therapy kick.

Like most shopping centres though there are positive and negative features of such an attraction.

Positive:-

Clean - generally speaking, despite the often crowded feel to the mall it is very well kept with little to no litter and clean floors and facilities.

Light - although using a lot of fluorescent lighting to ensure the entire mall is light, the glass roof allows a flood of natural light to pour in on nice days.

Convenience - located relatively close to Dudley this makes it well positioned for surrounding areas and far enough from Birmingham and Wolverhampton to ensure it doesn't have competition from them.

Parking - with 10,000 spaces, Merry Hill has an impressive amount of parking, ensuring that even during Christmas shopping times you're likely to find a space.

Opening Times - the mall is open from 9-9 weekdays and opens til midnight during December for late night Christmas shoppers.

Variety - from music shops to big high street names such as Debenhams, French Connection, Dorothy Perkins, Jessops and Greggs, Merry Hill boasts a wide variety of shops to cater to even the most diverse shopping requirements.

Food & Drink - from Fish and Chips to Subway to Mc Donalds there is guaranteed to be something to tempt your appetite.

Negative:-

Volume Of Shoppers - generally speaking Merry Hill is very busy all the time which results in frustrated shoppers a lot of the time however this is a general negative point really as if it was quiet there then it wouldn't have lasted as long as it has

Mall Rats - teenagers (generally speaking) that hover around the shops sitting outside them and generally loitering all day can be a bit troublesome

Temperature Control - Although the Mall as a whole is fairly well controlled in terms of its temperature, shop to shop it can vary dramatically. This can be fairly uncomfortable.

Summary:-

Merry Hill houses a good variety of shops, wide range of food and drink outlets and has a vast amount of parking. At the end of a long day of shopping you can even go and relax in its own J.D Wetherspoons which is open until late. Although at times it's too warm and cramped in Merry Hill it is as a whole a nice place to shop is perfect for when birthdays or Christmas come around.

Summary: Although at times it's too warm and cramped it is as a whole a nice place to shop

Good review. I think most malls suffer from loitering teenagers no matter how many premium brands start up there and being a mall thanks to Scottish weather most malls up here are busy.
