Advantages: stacks of choice of shops, undercover, clean
Disadvantages: can be horrendously busy, distance away
the Merry Hill SHopping Centre in Brierley Hill, ( which is near to Dudley and located in the Black Country, ,West Midlands), can be either Very Merry Hill or Bl**dy Merry Hell, depending upon what day of the week you are able to go, ( and what season too!) I would seriously counteneance avoiding going there at anywhere near approaching weekends, bank holidays and, especially, christmas. If you are brave, or foolhardy, enough to venture there at these times then be prepared for car parkk full to overflowing, desperate people cruising to find a spot less than a mile or so away, and hordes of heaving, bad-tempered people trudging around scowling ferociously at one another. Oh yes, and queues to get in and out of the car parks into the bargain! However, if you can manage to go during the week you will find the Merry Hill centre transformed into a fantastic place to shop. Everything is under cover, so once you are out of the car then you don't need a coat to keep you dry, there are a wealth of shops, from large chains such as Marks & Spencers, Woolworths, Laura Ashley, Benetton, Next, River Island etc etc, to smaller, more exclusive shops that sell anything from chinces cooking utensils to novelty gifts. (The Gadget Shop is particularly good for these!) The Merry Hill centre also boast a range of places where the thirsty or hungry can go to eat & drink, although we have since discovered that the best place for us, ( due to its convenience, affordability and food quality), is the resteraunt with Sainsbry's ! (Sad, I know, but what the heck, it avoids the crowds and the food is good). SO, if you want a good day out, or need to find something special for either yourself or a friend / loved one, then give the Meerry Hill Centre a whirl, but just ensure that you are not one of those hot & bothered people there at high days or holidays, because if you are you will come to loathe the place!
