Advantages: Most things.

Disadvantages: Some things.

To my belief, the Merry Hill Centre seems to be 2 places at once, so it can defy the laws of physics. The reason why, should be fairly obvious to those who thrive on the centre, but for those of whom do not know here’s the reason why. Whenever there is something good to say about it, it’s Merry Hill ‘Dudley’. However, whenever there’s something bad to say about it, it is Merry Hill ‘Brierley Hill’. The reason for these different addresses is still ‘unknown’ to me. To others it might be not so difficult to find out.

Well, let’s get on to the real subject. Some of my favourite shops in Merry Hill (or Mezza, as me and my friends call it, or the Merry Hell Centre, as my parents call it) have got to be Mark One, McDonalds, ASDA, Sephora, Lush, Tammy, New Look, Superdrug, KFC, Marks and Spencers, Virgin Megastores, Boots, HMV, ‘Spencer’s Market’, Two by Two, Accessorize, The Body Shop, and many, many more.

The Merry Hill Centre has got a whole range of different departments. Such as, Beauty, DIY, Food (Health), Pets, Clothes and Fashion, Jewellery shops, etc. Most of these departments can be located on the upper floor. Others can be located on the lower floors.

ASDA?

For all of your food shopping needs. You name it they’ve got it. Well, not always. When I went to get the food shopping, my Nan had asked my mom to get her some ready meals. We thought: ‘No problem!’ Boy, weren’t we wrong!! Hardly anything. They all seemed to be all curries. Well, my Nan doesn’t like curries she wanted her usual meals. Such as Bangers and Mash, Sausage Hot Pot etc. So beware, they haven’t always got the things that YOU might need.

MARK ONE

Mark One, is basically a clothes and fashion jewellery shop. Me and my friend Megan, went over there yesterday and bought these lovely turtle neck tops, for just only £2, they were already d
own from £8. What a bargain. We also got a lovely black, crystal choker, for only £1. An excellent deal, wouldn’t you say?? They have got a whole stock of the latest fashions and much, much more. Tip: Catch the sale that is going on at this very moment, you’ll save a few bob, let me tell you!!

TAMMY

Now, Tammy has sort of a second shop called Etam. Etam has the clothes and lingerie for women and 18 – 19 aged teenagers. This is found on the upper floor, and Tammy is found on the lower floor. This shop is for the kids aged 6 – 16, really. (Although I am not quite sure.) The prices in here can be a bit too much. I hardly ever buy stuff from here; only on very rare occasions do I buy stuff from here. I buy my mate’s presents for their birthdays and Christmas presents, but they do tend to rip me off a bit.

However, apart from these ‘miss-haps’ they do run a very successful shop. I see many people come in here, loaded up with bags. They must have a lot of money.
You can buy, jeans, tops, jumpers, bags, ear cuffs, sweets, and hair scrunchies, photo frames, mirrors, hair colour, everything!!!!!!!

(There’s a fairly big undercover shopping mall containing all of the main High Street shops e.g. Marks and Spencers, H Samuel’s, Boots, W H Smith’s, Dorothy Perkins and many more. There are also shops such as the Warner Brothers Shop, The Gadget Shop, and Lush etc. So there’s GOT to be something for everyone. Shopping heaven is what I would have called it!!)

SEPHORA

Sephora is basically a beauty shop. Perfumes from all over the world, from nearly every different country can be located in here. All the different colours, sizes, formations of make up have been stocked in here also. They have got a whole range of different bath products, which prices are absolutely sky high!!!!!!!!!
A bottle of perfume, roughly about 4 inches high, made in this country
£69.99!! Totally horrific!! If anybody buys that, they must be MAD!!!!! Insane even.

MCDONALD’S

One of my most favourite places to eat has got to be McDonald’s!! There’s one to be found opposite the Disney Store, and the other to be located almost opposite BHS and the Tourist Information Centre and just round the corner from Etam. I prefer the one on the upper floor, better than the one on the lower floor, because the one on the lower floor hasn’t got as much stock as the one on the upper floor, and is much more crowded than the one on the upper floor. I could eat their entire profits and still be craving more and more!! The prices in there are really, really good!!

***WARNING***

When you next go over the Merry Hill Shopping Centre, keep your mobile phones, purses and bags, and anything worth some money well hidden and well protected. Keep them with you at all times. I don’t know whether you know or not, but on the news and in the local newspaper there has been a story saying that the amount of thefts taking place in the Merry Hill has risen by roughly 5%, over the last 12 months. Teenagers mostly commit them, and are just looking for anything worth a tiny sum of money. Beware. You’re belongings are not safe.

PARKING

Now, the parking on Merry Hill is a total and utter nightmare, you can never ever move over there. Here’s a little tip, go down there early on a morning, when they have lifted up the barriers and the car parks are open, park your car wherever you want on the car parks, and then when you are happy with where you have parked, lock it up VERY securely and then walk home at your convenience.

MY THOUGHTS

I think that the Merry Hill Shopping Centre is very, very good, and is at, well nearly everybody’s convenience. The mall can attend to your every waking need.

Every shop has got there own telephone numbers, so if you don't wan
t to go outside, you can just call them straight up.

I sincerely hope, that this opinion has helped you.

Excellent op, very well written. Loved the idea of leaving your car there and walking home.

Did you know that the entire Merry Hill site was once Europes largest steelworks and at its height it employed more than 10 times the amount of people who are now employed by the centre?

Any time you want a useless fact you know where to come!

Hi, I gave you U cos I thought you need to say more about the shopping centre itself rather than about the shops in it. If that makes any sense, I mean like the malls and the services. I love merry hill.
