Advantages: Handy, well served by public transport
Disadvantages: Not very up market
Perry Barr One Stop is a reasonably new out of town shopping complex in the North West area of Birmingham. It is served by at least twenty different bus routes, a nearby train station (Birmingham to Walsall line) and boasts a large free car park. The complex is split into two, with an indoor shopping area and a row of outdoor shops edging the car park. The indoor centre includes shops such as Asda, Boots, Adams, Thorntons, Harry Shaw Travel, Argos, Blockbuster Video and several discount clothes stores. There’s also an indoor market. The outdoor area of shops includes Dorothy Perkins, Iceland, JJB Sports, a couple of discount stores and a number of electrical retailers. There are five eating places in the complex: Asda café, indoor market café, Burger King, McDonalds and Subway Sandwich Bar. There is also an on-site bank, building society and several cash machines located around the complex. The site is kept clean, the inside area is a no-smoking zone and it is regularly patrolled by security guards. A fantastic firework display (no entrance fee) is held there each November which is hugely popular. Santa’s Grotto is found outside Asda throughout the month of December. There is no charge although it is requested that a small donation is made to charity. In conclusion, this is a handy out of town shopping complex, ideal if you don’t want to make the journey into Birmingham itself.
