Advantages: Loads of choice

Disadvantages: Crowded

Oxford Street is located in the West End of London and runs from Totteham Court Road to Marble Arch with the tube station of Oxford Circus bang in the middle. You can also access it from Bond Street station which is between Oxford Circus and Mable Arch. This is probably one of the best known shopping streets in the country and is a mjor attraction for tourists as well as domestic shoppers in London.

The Marble Arch end has two of the biggest shops located at its end of the street with Selfridges and the flag ship Marks and Spencer Branch located near to each other, the first time I went into Marks I was amazed to see people filling up trolleys with clothes rather than a basket and it is a huge store on a number of floors.

The whole of Oxford Street is packed full of high street names including the flag ship branch of Topshop and just off Oxford Street on the road towards Picadilly you will find the famous toy shop of Hamleys as well as the Apple Store which is very popular.

It does get incredibly crowded with shoppers and there are quite a few tacky stores as well, the closer you get to Tottenham Court Road the poorer the quality of shops that you encounter.

Summary: Shopping street
