Advantages: All under one roof and free parking

Disadvantages: You need a compass to remember which way to exit.

A few years back I did an assignment for an international company. Whilst i spent some of the time in Madrid and Paris, my UK base was Manchester, and the offices were on the enormous Trafford Park business estate. I was staying at the Golden Tulip next to Manchester United's ground and usually drove into the centre of Manchester to eat, and have a night out with colleagues. The centre of Manchester is really good for eating but with so many nights available (the assignment lasted one year) the Trafford Centre was a good gap filler, useful for browsing, eating and of course some shopping, particularly in December. Very handy at that time of year, particularly for someone like me who normally hates shopping but somehow it became bearable in that place. As you say, some interesting shops, resulting in lots of Mastercard points. My wife was happy, so I guess it was worth it.
There's a similar centre in Sheffield (forgot the name) but if you want to check it out it's just off the M1.

Summary: Better than the high Street

Sorry for the low rate but there's very little info here about the Trafford Centre itself.
