As Office Administrator, it's my job to make sure that all the office equipment is running efficiently. So when our old shredder 'died', it was my job to purchase a new shredder. I do all the shredding and so I wanted a good quality shredder that was going to be able to cope with the amount of shredding I do and whilst I didn't want to spend a huge amount of money on something so basic, I was satisfied when I came across this shredder by Aurora.
The shredder is quite large. One of the things that attracted me to the shredder was the fact that it has a large bin. There is nothing worse, when you have a huge pile of shredding to get through, than a shredder that 'fills up' quickly which means that you are forever having to empty it. Of course, if you are using it for home use, then you probably won't be shredding as much as someone in an office.
The shredder accepts up to eight sheets of paper per 'shred'. Any more and it either grumbles and slows down or the paper gets jammed. So it's best to stick to the '8 sheet rule'. The shredder also shreds CD - I have only found 1 CD to shred and it shredded it beautifully and easily. Although I'm not sure many people would use the CD shredding facility on this shredder.
As with all shredders, this shredder is quite noisy. Whilst it isn't as noisy as our old shredder it does make quite a bit of noise which is a bit annoying - especially if I have a lot of paper to shred, but don't want to disturb my fellow colleagues in the office.
Having read reviews on Amazon before purchase, I was pleased to hear that the shredder does not 'cut out' after a certain amount of shredding. I have found however, that the shredder does cut out after a couple of bin fulls, which is a bit of a nuisance, but then I guess it is a safety thing to stop it overheating. Within around 10 minutes, it's ready to go again.
All in all I would recommend this shredder!
