“ Manufacturer: Fellowes / Cut Style: Strip-Cut / Shred Size: 0.22 in. / Max Sheet Capacity:12 Sheets / Throat Size: 9 in. / Speed: 14 ft./min. „
After much deliberation over which shredder to buy for the office we eventually decided on this Fellowes model. It has the capability to shred 12 pages at a time with the ability to shred credit cards and thicker materials than just your bog standard A4 paper sheets. It will also take paper that still has the staples in it which is a great time saver. Priced at £140 is certainly isn't cheap but is pretty competitive compared to similar models that are designed for office use. It shreds paper through the small strip cut mechanism allowing you to shred documents relatively quickly - ideal for an office environment. The actual shredder is black in colour, with the top shredding device being silver. The base is very large, allowing you to shred a considerable amount before needing to empty - this was one of the main attractions for us purely due to the sheer volume of documents that have to be shredded over the course of a week. I would imagine that we shred around 30 documents a day with the box having to be emptied once a week. This model has a large black button on the silver top for turning the shredder on and off, as well as giving you the option to reverse the documents out of the cutting grill should it get jammed. It is clear to see when the shredder is turned on at the plug as there is a green light which comes on, or a red light indicating a problem should it become jammed for example. This shredder was great up until recently when one day it simply stopped working. No lights, no nothing! We have had the shredder for about a year so I was surprised for it to give up so soon, however maybe it just isn't cut out for the volume of shredding we were doing - despite it advertising that it was. To be honest I was pretty disappointed, as we had hoped for it to last longer. Whilst it was working ok, I couldn't find fault with it and it certainly did meet our needs, however I thought shredders were designed to last longer than it did. It could be that it had a fault that could be fixed however at the moment it simply sits in it's box in the corner of the office gathering dust until it finds its way to the bin. I would recommend for office use however if you are looking for a shredder that will last a while then I wouldn't purchase this model.
