Advantages: small size, can shred a lot at once

Disadvantages: noisy

I purchased this shredder a couple of months ago after our old one died. I got mine from amazon for £34 although I had vouchers so you can probably get it cheaper elsewhere. This is a good, inexpensive price for a shredder although it is one of the more basic models.

Appearance
This is a small little shredder and takes up very little room. Its dimensions are 22 x 30cm. I can fit it easily next to my desk and it would also be ideal for using in the office at work. It has a shiny black plastic covering with silver or blue controls at the top depending which model you get. The black coloring and design look quite attractive.

Usage
The shredder is very easy to use. You simply plug it in and then slide the button at the top over and then insert the paper into the slot and it shreds. This shredder is a cross-cutter so cuts paper up into a confetti style which ensures that any details are completely destroyed. You are supposed to shred no more than 5 sheets of paper at any one time although I have tried it with 8 and it still shreds well, a little slower but the paper is still sufficiently destroyed. Unfortunately like most shredders it is quite noisy but it shreds very quickly so the noise doesn't last more than few seconds. The shredder is small so only has the capacity to store a small amount of paper, apparently up to 12L according to the instructions, so needs emptying a bit more often than a standard large shredder. Emptying it is very straightforward, you just pull the top half off to expose the collecting paper bin and then empty it before replacing it back on.

Features
This shredder is capable of shredding not just paper but also credit cards which is a very useful feature to have as it can be tedious using scissors to cut cards into tiny pieces. If you put in to much paper then instead of just jamming like my old shredder this one has a reverse feature. You slide the top button to the "R" and the paper is reversed out of the slot so you can easily remove it and reinsert a smaller amount. For those of you with small children the shredder also has a child lock which blocks the top button from sliding across. This ensures the appliance remains switched off while you are not watching it in case children decide to test out shredding their fingers.

Overall this is a great shredder for use in the home for making sure you have protection from identity theft etc. It does exactly what a shredder should do and does it better than some of the more expensive, flashy models in my opinion. I would recommend it.

Summary: a great little shredder which does exactly what its suppposed to
