National Memorial Chorten (Thimphu, Bhutan) ... our tour of Bhutan last November we visited many different temples and monasteries but it was relatively rare to actual see real people (i.e. not monks) interacting with their religious surroundings. The National Memorial Chorten was the one big exception to this pattern. We arrived in Thimphu, the country s capital city, after dark and so we had no idea what to expect when we opened the curtains of our hotel room the next morning. Eventually the Americans gave up and headed home after the fall of Saigon. Most Vietnamese are very thin people and there... Read the full review: Could you live like a rabbit. by garymarsh6 |

My Son Sanctuary (Vietnam) ... Son. My Son is a massive religious site up in the hills just outside Hoi An it was here that the Champa people lived and worshiped and built their main city of My son. It has been likened to those important religious sites such as Angkor Wat in Cambodia. The Champa people built this place and lived there between the 2nd century and the 13th Century it was their Capital city and a centre of learning where the Champa kings were Crowned and buried. It is quite high up in the mountains and it involves a bit of walking along some good footpaths but also around the temples it is quite uneven and could pose a problem for some people with mobility problems. There are over ... Read the full review: My son, Your son, Our Son, by garymarsh6 |
