Bellagio Fountain Show
If you have never been to Las Vegas and are concerned that it will be too expensive then fear not. There are so many free things to see and do and I managed to spend an entire week there without spending any of my own money on gambling.
The Bellagio is one of many hotels in Las Vegas where they offer some free entertainment to encourage you in to lose your money in their casino. The hotel is opulent and luxurious and you have a wide choice of bars and places to eat as well as casinos within the hotel.
You don't need to go into the hotel to see this show as it is in front of the hotel and this amazing light and sound dancing fountain show can be seen throughout the day so don't worry too much if you just miss one. During the week from Monday to Friday the shows are every half hour from 3pm to 7pm and then every fifteen minutes from 7pm to midnight. On week ends and holiday the shows start at noon and are every half hour till 7pm then they are every fifteen minutes till midnight.
I would suggest you try and catch the show more than once as there are several different ones. Certainly try to see one day time show and one at night as they are quite different . At night the lights are much more impressive than they are during the day.
It can get quite crowded so you want to get there a little while before they are due to begin. No worries about waiting in the cold as it never seems to be cold in Las Vegas and the wait goes quite quickly.
Each show is beautifully choreographed and they are a bit like a ballet of fountains shooting different heights and in different directions and the lights adding a different dimension to the movement and it all works in time to the tune playing at the time.
This show appeals to old and young alike as there is nothing offensive just beautiful music and dancing fountains. I always think of how long it must have taken to arrange it all and create the show while I am watching. There are some very talented people in this world who create amazing things with little fame and fortune.
Apparently some of the fountain spouts sometimes squirt higher than a 24-story building so you can see that this is no small fountain. Other facts gleaned from the hotel fact sheet include the Bellagio the lake in front of the hotel could actually fill 2,000 swimming pools. If you were to fill this with a garden hose it would take more than a year. The lake are is equivalent to three city blocks which I find hard to imagine as they don't look that huge when you are there.
Anyway you don't often get something for nothing and it is a great spectacle so if in Las Vegas make sure you see this at least once.
