Hiring a canoe from one of the various points on the Dordogne river is a great way of seeing this picturesque region. There are numerous points along the river from which you can hire a 1,2 or 3 person canoe. Prices vary depending upon how long you want to canoe for or how far you want to go. One of the nicest ways to enjoy the Dordogne is to take a nice relaxing canoe ride down one of the two main rivers that run through the region. We opted for the River Dordogne for a couple of reasons, firstly it was the closest of the two to our base in Sarlat and also it was supposed to have the slightly stronger current and I always feel that it is not a canoe trip without a bit of white water to get the pulse flowing.
