This is a hidden gem in Paris that I do not feel enough people know about!
I have recently been to visit this cemetry and I definitely recommend it if you are going on a trip to Paris.

The cemetry itself is situated in the eastern part of Paris, with the nearest metro being Pere Lachaise which is just a mere 2 minutes walk away from the cemetry.

The cemetry covers a vast area and there are quite a fair amount of steep hills, so I would advise you to wear sensible shoes and perhaps carry a bottle of water.

Entrance to the cemetry is free, which is great if you are on a budget. It also can take as many hours as you wish to spend. I would say it takes about a whole day to see it all properly.

Upon entering the cemetry I was in awe of how massive it really is. The area inside is peaceful and quite relaxing. You often cannot tell you are next to a busy road.
There are numerous levels all covered with differing gravestones and statues. Quite a few gravestones are very distinctive and inspiring.
A great place to take some interesting photographs or perhaps do some drawing.
Several famous graves are situated in the cemetry, including Oscar Wilde, Chopin, Edith Piaf, Jim Morrison and many more!

There are several benches dotted around the cemetry, a chance to take a rest. There are also some public toilets situated near the entrance, however they are pretty grim.

Overall I found this to be a very interesting experience.
