The Gellert Baths are a traditional Hungarian Bath complex located in the Gellert Hotel in Buda, along the Danube. It has been open to the public since 1918, at a cost (now - it was originally cheaper ;) ) of about 3100 Hungarian forints, but hotel guests enjoy free admission through a separate entrance (you take a separate lift, which seems to be an original 1930s era lift, and are expected to wear your hotel bathrobe down there). If you come in from outside and pay the entrance fee, you're given a card, and if you leave before 2 hours has elapsed you get 400 ft. back, making the cost about £7ish. During a recent visit to Budapest I visited the Gelert Baths. The baths can be found at the back of the Gelert hotel, the entrance is sign posted. As you walk into the building there is magnificent architecture, there a are pay kiosks to the right and left, struggled to figure out what we wanted to pay for due to being written in Hungarian..but what am i to expect. I was directed though some turn-styles and to a door on the right, this was a ladies only section.
