Advantages: Breathtaking views of the water and backdrop, interesting walks, plenty of wildlife, great price

Disadvantages: Boat tour was exciting but a shame it couldn't navigate low water, didnt see much on the jeep ride

For years I had a desktop wallpaper on my computer of Iguazu Falls, knowing little about it, and little knowing in a few years time, I would be stood atop the falls, staring down into the perilous Devil's Throat.

I always believed the falls to be in Brazil, and although some of them are, the majority lies within the Argentinian border (approx. 80%)
Upon entering the Iguazu falls national park, we had the option to go on a jeep ride through the jungle and then a boat trip up the river to see the falls up close and personal!
Unfortunately, due to the fact it was the 'dry' season, the boat could not navigate the bigger rocks in some parts of the rapids, which meant we couldn't do what we had really wanted.
I use the term dry, in it's loosest sense. The sheer volume of water and number of waterfalls just made the term 'dry season' to be thoroughly ridiculous. If this was the dry season, what on earth is the 'wet season' like?!

Despite my frustration at not being able to shower under such waterfalls, I did not let it deter me, or take anything anyway from this truly breathtaking experience. Back on land (or bridges should I say), me and my travel pals navigated the paths to the top of Devil's Throat which is the main part of the falls. It was unbelievable to be stood atop one of the worlds most beautiful and powerful natural wonders. It all seemed so surreal from a computer image 6 or 7 years prior.

Within the park, there are so many walks to take, different views to see the waterfalls from, but with over 250 waterfalls to see, you literally could walk round for 2 days solid, and still not quite see it all.

It's a thoroughly beautiful place, with the jungle dotted with wildlife such as toucans, monkeys and even caiman roam around, though thankfully we didn't encounter the latter.

A worthwhile trip which cost 60pesos to get in (about £10) and a further 50 pesos for the jeep and boat ride. Disappointing that we didn't get to go under the falls, but providing you visit between September to April, you should be fine with that.

Summary: Overall, a truly worthwhile experience, no-one can explain the roaring sound of the water!
