La Bastille
 La Bastille ... Bastille you will find the site of the Bastille Saint Antoine which was a major part of the defences ordered by Charles V, built from 1370. Louis XIV had the ramparts demolished but kept the Bastille as a luxury prison for people of quality. However near by is the Opera Bastille and it is worth having a look at as it is a bit of architecture that you will either love or hate as it does tend to polarise opinions.

La Bastille the notorious prison that wastoppled as part of the revolution in France would make an excellent tourist attraction if it had not been raised to the ground and currently the site has a bank occupying it however the area of Paris si still worth a visit as there are some significant sites to see and it also has a vibrant bar scene so you can celebrate in your own particular way if you think the French revolution was actually something worth celebrating.
