Lindos

Description: Largest object of interest of the island.

Newest Review: ... knights of st john in order to defend the island. Many of the buildings in Lindos have survived since the 15th century with little change and they are truly beautiful, the little cobbled streets apparently allow small delivery vans and motorbikes but i have only ever seen donkeys and people on foot. The architecture is a mixture of byzantine greek and gothic with middle eastern influence and ... more

... is truly breathtaking. The village has many 'Captain's houses' which date from around the late 1640's i believe and one of them serves as a beautiful restaurant. The beaches in Lindos are gorgeous, north of town in lindos bay is a lovely sandy beach...more

Lindos ......... where do i start? To me Lindos is my favourite place in the world, so much so we are getting married there in 2011 because to us there couldnt be a more romantic place. Lindos is a picturesque, quaint little white washed village on the greek island of Rhodes which is home to the famous acropolis, a huge tourist attraction. As so much of medieval Lindos has survived it has actually been declared a national landmark. Lindos was founded by the Dorians, who were one of the three major tribes of the ancient greeks, led by King Tlepolemus in around the 10th century BC. In 300BC the acropolis was shadowed by the huge temple of Athena ...  Read the complete review

I have been to lindos four times now and my husband and i got married there two years ago, this is the most beautiful place that i have ever been to. We went the first time quite by chance but i am soo pleased that we did. I had been to Rhodes Town once before and been told about day trips to Lindos but we didn't have time to go. Lindos is half way down the island of rhodes and it is said to be the jewel in the crown of the island. It has beautiful sandy beaches, either the more commercial Lindos bay where there are several shops, restaurants and even a pub selling real ale which in the heat is needed! The other beech, which is called st Pauls Bay has ...  Read the complete review

We went to Lindos for the first time in May 2004, what a fantastic place. Lindos is in the southern part of the Greek Islands about a 45 minute trip away from Rhodes. My Fiance and i went there for a week and it wasn't long enough, the accomodation is quite basic but definately good enough, we were about a 5 minute walk from the village square and centre which was very friendly and all undercover with vines, so it was a nice relief from the sunshine as the weather for the entire week had been scorching!! Lindos is quite hilly in parts, but if you really can't face walking up hills then there is a donkey station there, as that is the only form of transport in Lindos ...  Read the complete review

What can I say about this destination? Lovely, Beautiful, Quite, Perfect We as a family visited Lindos in October 2004, we where their as a party of 18 people including young children and elderly. Lindos was our chosen destination to get married. Why Choose Lindos: We choose Lindos due to its lovely scenery, Cost effective, Transfer for Airport to Lindos This can be a little scary, as the driver’s batter along these long and open roads with not a care in the world. Or so it appears. It takes about 45/55 mins to get to Lindos. Lindos its self is very hilly and we would not recommend it to anyone with ...  Read the complete review
