The reason for visiting the Palais du Luxembourg in the Saint Germain region on the left bank of the Seine is not to actually visit the building which is not actually open to visitors but the beautiful gardens that it is set in. I have visited this park twice, once in the summer when it is crowded with students and families with young children and again more recently in the height of winter when it is a quietr place with couples taking a morning stroll amongst the still impressive gardens and the even more impressive sculptures that are dotted around the gardins.
