Advantages: stunning sights

Disadvantages: lack of toilets, the smell (camels.......)

I visited Petra in July this year. Not the best time to visit Jordan in the heat of summer with 35 degrees plus every day! However Petra soon took my mind from the heat and amazed me with it's sights. Petra is a huge site formed by the Naebatteans many. many, many years ago. The entrance to Petra is somewhat touristy, with stalls cashing in on Indians Jones - I saw the Indiana jones souvenir stall amd coffee shop! Prices are 21JD for 1 day or 26JD for 2 (£12 / £15) but I'd seriously recommend getting the 2 day one as one day is not enough. As you enter the site you'll see the Siq which is 1 Km long, a pathway through towering rocks, all sorts of colours from sandy to red. At the end of this is the treasury, the picture you see in all the guidebooks! This is amazing and the further you walk through Petra the more you see. The furthest point is 10Km from the entrance, so bring sturdy walking shoes. There are camels and donkeys to hire although this seemed cheating to me. A fantastic place to visit, September and May are meant to be the best months though!

Summary: A great visit bt try and avoid the heat

Welcome to Dooyoo. Sorry for the low rating, but I would have expected a lot more details. Please allow me to give some friendly and constructive advice. Would recommend that when writing a review that you write it in Word, so that you have some idea of structure and content, as well being able to correct any spelling isuses as well and copy over to the site as necessary. Secondly, you need to put all the detail you can, such as where this place is, how you got there, what there is to do and see. Also look around at other peoples reviews of the same subject as well as this will give you some idea of things to include, and finally 150 words is really nothing more than a text message, you should be aiming between 900 and 1500 words to make the piece meaningful and interesting. That is only two sides of typing which considering all the things you must have done while there would be sufficent for the piece. Hope this helps. Tim
