Cairo On a recent holiday to Cyprus I decided to visit Egypt although Cyprus is a lovely country there wasn't many trips the few there was I had done and I hate lying around the pool or the beach I need to be doing something so in all the travel agents and our rep were advertising trips to Israel and Egypt. I have always wanted to go to see the pyramids but didn't want to stay in Egypt because I had been told how dirty that Cairo was. The trip cost us 249 Euros which included the cruise and the excursion and the meals and lunch on the river Nile which I think was well worth the price. Arriving at Port Said The cruise ship arrived in Port ... Read the complete review

I went to Egypt for one day by flying from Paphos to Cairo in August 2007 when on holiday in Cyprus. It took one hour to get there. I booked the trip with a travel agent in Paphos and it cost £200 cyprus per person travelling with Louis Travel. The air trip was a good flight and it included food (breakfast). The day was packed with lots of things to do. We arrived at Cairo and was quickly transported to a coach, which took us to our first destination - Citadel of Saladin. The coach drove through Heliopolis, an elite residential suburb of Cairo our professional guide pointed out places of interest and introduced us to the long history and ... Read the complete review

Our recent holiday to Paphos in Cyprus attracted us because of the option of a two-night cruise to Egypt and a visit to the Pyramids and the Sphinx. I have always wanted to see them a first-hand. Seeing them on the TV or in a Bond movie really doesn't do justice. And it would double the number of "Seven Wonders" I'd seen (The other one is the Temple of Aphrodite at Ephesus, though there's not much of that left). We crossed from Cyprus with Louis Cruise Lines on their Princesa Marissa cruise ship from Limassol to Port Said. I have written a review of this experience elsewhere if you are interested. I will post it as soon as Dooyoo set ... Read the complete review

This opinion is mainly about Cairo but includes alittle about Ras Sudur near Suez. I visited Egypt in August 2001 and i am returning August 2002. The first thing that hit me as we travelled from the airport in Cairo to our hotel, apart from the heat, was the living standards in the city. In general Cairo appears quite a run-down place with many earthquake damaged flats filled with the homeless and many other run down buildings. Yet this is no real problem. Cairo is definitly an assult on your senses. The noise of the traffic can be heard 24/7 yet it is not expecially diturbing as you quickly grow used to it. Crossing a road is an adventure ... Cairo is one of those cities that is still very old fashioned at grass root levels with plenty to see and do. The obvious sight is the pyramids and sphinx at Giza. I was shocked when I went there as you are travelling through large blocks of flats and then in the background is the Pyramids. They are massive and very impressive, and although you are not allowed to climb them its one of those places that you must have your picture taken at. The camel hire there is quite reasonable and a good way of getting about the Pyramids, another good camera opportunity. If you get a chance come back in the evening and see the light show around the Pyramids and Sphinx it is ... Read the complete review
