Advantages: City, beaches, culture

Disadvantages: none

Upon arrival I was in awe of the surroundings that encompassed me. I had never seen such a mixture that seemed to work so well together. The neon lights, the high buildings, the harbour, the buzz, the smells wafting around. I began exploring immediately, fascinated by the structure, engulfed by the beauty. The beaches, the islands, the mountains, the city, the night markets, the calm, the busy, all rolled into one spectacular place. Backstreets filled with mysteries, villages built on stilts, I continued exploring the attractions. Full of mixed cultures, it felt like home. It was love at first sight.

There are many places in Hong Kong to visit, both on the main island and on Kowloon side, and also plenty more apart from that. Many people think of Hong Kong as a city, like that of London, however it is a country in its own right and there are many more places to visit than just the city.

The main island is host to numerous shopping arcades, restaurants, backstreets, markets, the Happy Valley racecourse and much more! On a short bus ride from the main island one can get to Repulse Bay, where there are beaches and restaurants. Also, a trip to Stanley market is recommended which can be got to by bus too.

A trip up to Victoria Peak is also a must, with spectacular views! Don't forget to take the camera!

Over on the kowloon side, which one can get to via the Star Ferry, there is the jade market, and also the Hong Kong Museum of Art.

There are also many other places to visit in Hong Kong, such as Big Buddha, Macau and the New Territories!

If you are looking for some dining or nightlife, head to Lan Kwai Fong and the SoHo regions, as this is where its all happening. Or for a more sophisticated experience, there is the Peninsula Hotel which is host to the Felix Bar and Restaurant which has superb views.

Hong Kong is one of my favourite places and if you visit, I recommend you go further than just the main island or kowloon. If you are planning to stay in a hotel, I also recommend your stay be on the main island as it is more enjoyable than over on the Kowloon side. Enjoy your stay!

Summary: An inspirational place!
