Advantages: Cheap, Fun and Thrillling

Disadvantages: Casino Overload!!

Okays...here's what not to miss. We spent two weeks there via an Airtours package deal in December. Weather was very good. Warm with blue skies and it wasn't crowded.

1) The Grand Canyon. You cannot go to Las Vegas and not take an excursion to the Grand Canyon. Only 1-4 hours away depending on method of transport and a truly memorable experience!

2) Hotels: MGM, Mandalay Bay, Bellagio, New York - New York, Ceasars Palace, Venetian, Luxor, Paris...all highly recommended! First class service and very nice hotels!

Avoid: Circus-Circus & Excalibur - we found them to be dingey and dull. Circus, is also not based in a very nice part of the strip, but depends what you're looking for.

3) Entertainment: EFX at the MGM, Riverdance at New York-New York, Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay, Lions at MGM, Canal Boat rides at Venetian, Hourly special effects show at Ceasars Palace in the shopping mall. (Battle for Atlantis)Pirates battle at Treasure Island, Volcano at the Mirage...

at night..don't miss....Fountains at Bellagio! Stunning. Hint: Go into the hotel and make your way to the fontana Lounge. It has a large terrace where you can sit, drink cocktails and watch the fountains in all their element. Alternatively, visit the Eiffel Tower and go to the top..stunning..view the strip at night and the fountains at Bellagio too.

Sahara - La Cage. This show is amazing. See some of the greatest drag artists ever. Very classy entertainers and you would never believe that these were all men!! This is a must see!!!

Do a helicopter tour of the strip at night...well worth it! Visit the Stratosphere and the north end of the strip. The view day or night is awesome!

The best advice I can give you however, is to buy the Time Out guide to Las Vegas...it's full of everything you need to know...including helpful websites etc.
