Advantages: Wet, Wild
Disadvantages: Wet, Wild
I think this theme park is great. Just hours of slipping & sliding, ducking & diving. The park is centred around a big swimming pool. You actually walk into the shallow end, you don't have to jump in or climb down a slippery ladder. It soon gets deep and after a certain point, they have a red line where they suggest only strong swimmers should go. Every once in a while they turn on a wave machine and the pool almost becomes like the sea. I have to say that the waves at Typhoon Lagoon are better. But the pool isn't everything. Around the pool are lots of different slides. ~MACH 5~ Here you can choose from 3 runs and you use a mat to slide down lying face first, this goes very fast and is great fun. ~FUJI FLYER~ A Big raft for up to 4 people. All sit one in back of the other as you zip down a twisting course. A bit tame, but fun. ~BLACK HOLE~ This is for 2 people at a time in a figure 8 shaped inner tube. You ride down a pitch black tunnel with only the occasional flash of fibre-optic effects. A favourite of mine. ~HYDRO-FIGHTERS~ This is a very clever swing, like those old wooden swings at traditional fairgrounds which use opposing force, 2 of you are strapped in back to back with a fireman's hose between your legs (I know that's why I wrote it like that. He! He!) And by alternating the time that you have your hose turned on, you can really get your swing moving very high. Every now and then you might get to soak some of the other people riding or the queue waiting to ride as an added bonus. ~BOMB BAY~ This is one of those traditional, almost vertical drop water slides, but with a difference. You step into it and you are standing on a false floor. hen they close the door on you, it's what I can only imagine being in a coffin is like, but with the added hell of knowing that the floor is about to give way and you are going to be hurtling
to the ground at any second. **Special Note for Gentlemen. Keep your legs crossed at the ankles. Bruising of a certain area can occur and also a rather swift and not required enema may be on the cards. It's amusing to watch some guys getting off this ride who appear to have less material in their shorts than when they got on.** ~STORM~ This slide is the newest addition at the park and has you shoot very fast into what looks like a washing machine drum on it's side. You spin around this for a while until gravity pulls you down the plughole at the bottom into a deep pool. !!Warning - The water in this ride is freezing, unlike most of the other things at Wet N Wild. ~BUBBA TUB~ Ride down a big bumpy slide in a great big raft with a few other people. It is most fun to watch the faces of the people in front of you as they get on and go over the first drop. ~KNEE SKI~ This is my favourite thing at Wet N Wild. You have a little mini-surf board, life vest and padded headgear. You are handed a water-ski handle which is connected to a pulley system that runs around a big lake at the back of the park. Then you are pulled into the water kneeling on your board and you have to hold on for dear life and steer with your knees. Fantastic, if you can do it. There are some other things like a kids play area and plenty more slides. There are also places to eat and drink. They also have all day lockers, towels & inner tubes for rent. There are sunloungers all over, but these do get taken very early in the day. We lie out on the beach are with nice warm sand at the back. During the high season, the park stays open very late and it can be great fun splashing around after dark, even though it's still very warm. They even have live music at night. I recommend arriving early to make the most of small queues for the slides, maybe leaving during the heat of the afternoon and then coming back la
ter when the lines have gone down. They do sell a reduced price ticket for people using the park after a certain time, but this changes during the year. Go on try it out. I know you want to. Updated 7/8/01.

- 17/06/02 I went to Wet and Wild when I was a teenager, and much prefered it to Blizzard Beach. I guess the rides have been added to now but I would still reccommend it to anyone. :-)

- 06/10/01 We went to Orlando a few years ago and I was dying to got to W&W after my sisters had raved about it having been there a few years previously (my mean father took them and left me at home coz I had just started uni! - never really got over that!). I must say it lived up to expectations. Did you go to Blizzard Beach? This was better, I thought. I could have spent all fortnight at water parks! Jo |
