Sights & Attractions in Toronto in generalNewest Review: ... unique and intriguing, and while it was worth a visit, it wasn't quite what I had been expecting. I was thinking art gallery-meets-shoe shop, with row after row of fancy footwear, probably in sleek displays with subtle up-lighting. What I found instead was a more hands-on, kiddie friendly museum looking at the history of shoes from around the world, and including random articles like Chestnut-stomping-boots and boots made with bear fur, from Japan. They had some designer pieces, but they weren't the focus of the museum. On the upper ground floor, they had a video reel running, which was an interesting look at people who could be defined by... more |

Toronto has some interesting attractions, but few must sees, and in the weeks prior to my visit I alternated between thinking I'd never be able to fill my days there and thinking I'd have far too much to fit in during my stay. It was hard to tell from my mini guide book what the absolute must sees were, but over a day and a half I packed in the following. It may seem like a lot, but I never felt too rushed, and also had time for a bit of shopping and lots of eating, things equally important in any city break itinerary I draw up for myself. On my first day, on the advice of a local friend, I headed to CASA LOMA. It was quite a trek since I chose to walk and it ... Read the complete review

Toronto has so much to offer everyone and all budgets. There's a lot to do for free if you do your research and a lot of expensive things to do and see as well. If you're in need of directions, get off the subway at Union Station and turn left. Down the street is a tourist shop that can book trips for you, and will provide you with a downtown map for free (no need to book anything with them). The map has all major attractions highlighted well and if you want to go somewhere specific, the staff will draw directions on the map for you. Easy Peasy. Mostly the best attractions are all downtown so easy to get to and easily accessable by subway or rail car. As with ... Read the complete review

What follows is a whistlestop tour through 4 of the sights of Toronto's bustling downtown. Well.... 3 sights and a train station... Ok - A shopping mall, a busy street, a train station and a sports venue - but you get the point. They're places of interest, and as you're bound to come across at least some of them on a trip to the City, I thought I should at least tell you about them. Eaton Centre A mecca of shopping, the Eaton Centre stands as a cathedral to consumerism, halfway up Yonge Street in downtown Toronto, and spanning from Dundas street at the top end, down to Bay Street where it joins with the Hudson Bay Trading ... Toronto is a shoppers delight - which is a good thing as it is one of the most sterile places I have ever visited. However, it does have some of the friendliest and most polite people on the planet. Briefly the best places to go are: CN Tower. It's tall and when the wind blows half of it (the top bit) is shut. The views over Toronto and Lake Ontario are very impressive. The high speed lift (on the outside of the building) is great fun so stand by the doors so that you can see. When you get to the top make sre you stand on the Glass floor, it is a bit scratched but the view (straight down) is OK.Make sure that you look at the construction and ... Read the complete review

As far as i'm concerned there are 2 things which every tourist visiting Toronto should see - and apologies if these are predictable! Firstly the CN tower - you have to go up this - it offers one of the highest viewing platforms in the world and you really get a sense of how big and spread out Toronto is from up there. The views out over the lake are stunning as well! A must do once you're up at the top is to walk on the glass section of floor and peer down at the ground 100s of feet below you! You may feel nervous about stepping out onto the glass at first but the views are worth it and it is completely safe. It can withstand a herd of rhinos standing on ... Read the complete review
