“ When Treasure Island (TI) decided to revamp its 10-year-old traditional pirate show, the Battle of Buccaneer Bay, they wanted to turn it into something a little more sultry. „
I caught this show about a year and a half ago when I was in Vegas and I travelled down to the Treasure Island hotel just to watch it.
Well, I think it is worth watching but I do think it was silly of me to make my way down to watch this free mini show.
It lasts around 10-15 minutes and is a musical play involving a battle between pirate ships.
Depending on how strict you are with your children when it comes to sexuality, the actresses do wear some provocative clothing so it may not be for little children but it's no worse than seeing Britney Spears on tv in her type of provocative clothing, either.
There is some pyrotechnics involved when the show comes to a climax as the two ships engage in combat with one another, which was pretty good.
You may also get wet during the ending, too, so for those who wish to keep dry, this may not be for you.
Again, I would say it is another cheesy show but more worthwhile than watching the Bellagio fountains but I wouldn't make plans to just travel down to watch it again.
However, since it is free, this is probably one of the best shows you are going to see for nothing in Vegas!
It doesn't hold a candle to any shows that you will pay to see there but it's worth your time if you are in the area of TI.
Last September I visited Las Vegas with my boyfriend. Even before we arrived, we had a long list of things to do whilst out there as I had looked online at the attractions in Las Vegas. I was surprised to find a number of things that you could do and see for free. Excellent, I thought and these went to the top of the list as it meant more money for shopping in their outlets. One of the things that caught my eye was the Sirens of TI (Treasure Island).
What is the Sirens of TI? The Sirens of TI is a show that is put on every evening by the Treasure Island Hotel in a pretend harbour. The hotel describe it as follows: "Get enchanted by the beautiful Sirens of TI as they lure a band of renegade pirates into their cove with powerful and captivating melodies. The clash between the mesmerizing temptresses and their rebel prey transforms this 17th century story into a 21st century revelry of song and dance, seduction and danger. The show features daring swordplay, high-diving acrobatics and eye-popping pyrotechnics."
Is this what it really is? No! The show was risqué yet somehow cheesy and didn't really appeal to the audience. If you like to watch poor dancing and acting with lots of sexual innuendos this is for you. I think it would be better if they went back to what I have read was the old way of doing it when there was actually a storyline rather than just women wearing next to nothing, leaping around.
The pyrotechnics were the best thing about the show but even that wasn't amazing. Perhaps I was expecting too much but after seeing The Mirage Volcano and The Fountains of Bellagio it was a complete let down.
Where is the Sirens of TI show? This free show takes place outside the Treasure Island Hotel and Casino. If you are located at either end of the Strip, the monorail station that is closest to The Mirage Volcano is Harrah's/Imperial Palace Station so it might be worth thinking about taking this as it is quite a long walk from either end.
What are the performance times? The performance times for the Siren of TI show are 7pm, 8.30pm and 10pm. There is an additional performance at 5.30pm in the winter and at 11.30pm in the summer. If you do decide against your better judgement that you would like to go and see this shambles of a show then there are a few times that you can do so. The only time that the show does not go ahead is when the weather is really bad.
How much does this attraction cost? Not a single penny which is the good thing although I sincerely doubt that anyone would actually pay to watch this to be honest. As it is free, it was unbelievably cramped, so much so that you could barely move and people couldn't pass through the street easily.
How long does it last? The Sirens of TI show lasts roughly 20 minutes, which was probably 20 minutes wasted for us in Vegas as neither of us thought that it was any good. It is a shame really as it could have been but just failed miserably. Don't waste 20 minutes of your time on this, go and see The Mirage Volcano or The Fountains of Bellagio again instead.
If you are a guest of the Treasure Island Hotel, there is a VIP viewing area which although I wasn't a guest, thought was an excellent idea for those that are. A little something that everyone else in Vegas doesn't get. I wish they had done something like this for The Lion Habitat in the MGM Grand. But at the same time they are just getting to stand at the front, getting a good view of a rubbish show.
The Sirens of TI is a strange attraction. It is free of charge but to be honest, it isn't anything particularly special although you'd think it is amazing considering the crowd it attracts. My advice is not to go out of your way to see it but if you do happen to be in the area when the show is on then stay and watch it if you wish to. I would have recommended the Sirens of TI show to families with children as it is something that costs nothing yet they will probably love it but the content is a little bit sexy for young kids in my opinion although there where plenty there watching.
