Advantages: Some good photo opportunities. Climbing all those steps must be good for your leg muscles.

Disadvantages: Boring waste of time. Lot more exciting things to do in New York.

The Statue of Liberty is Very Impressive. But you can stay and be impressed by it at battery park - especially if you've only got a short time to spend in New York.

It's a huge Big green lady from the outside, and one massive queue from the inside. There's a miniscule museum inside, whch is nothing special. Then you're climbing up stairs in a tight extremely fire hazardous queue.

Although it's possible to get right up into the crown at the top of the statue, it takes a minimum of 1 hour 45 mins to get there, so by the time you reach the top, you're so bored that you're just desperate to climb dowm again and get back on the boat.

Now the boat trip, that's quite good fun. You get to see the Statue of Liberty from a few angles and get some good photo shots. It also stops at Ellis Island, which is much more worthwhile visiting.

You can see a great New York skyline from the statue, and play spot the nationality of all the tourists in the impossible long queue, but apart from that, there's nothing much worth going to the Statue of Liberty for.

Except maybe to write a dooyoo review about it.

I totally agree... and no-one tells you about the queues while you stand like sheep waiting to pile onto the boat! (Well of course not, else they'd only take one boat load a day.) When you get to Liberty Island, let's see, you can queue to go up the statue, queue in the shop, or queue to get on back the boat. Hmm. I have to say, though, I got one of my favourite ever photos on the boat back from Liberty. (http://www.fuchal.demon. co.uk/images/liberty.html - 'scuse plug ;)
