Near to Aswan, this temple has to rate as one of the most picturesque of those that line Upper Egypt. It was moved stone by stone about 50 years ago from its old site which is only about 300m away from the current one. The old site had been partially flooded by the first Aswan dam leaving half the temple poking up through the water - you can still see the water marks on the buildings now. Philae now has its own island that you get to by motor boat after the ticket gate. As I was on a guided tour I don't know whether the boat's included in your ticket price - does anyone else know?
