Advantages: Everything

Disadvantages: Nothing

We were walking around Hollywood all afternoon and had been up and down the walk of fame and in all of the shops so were looking for the next thing that we could do. This is when my husband spotted the El Capitan Theatre was showing a 3D version of the film Up. With nothing else in our minds to do we decided to pay the almost $22 to go and see the film and experience what the El Capitan has to offer and it was an experience indeed.

The El Capitan theatre is located in Hollywood, Los Angeles and right in the middle of the walk of fame. It is directly opposite the Graumans Chinese Theatre where the hand and footprints of all the celebrities are so it has a really good spot. It is easy to find purely because it is a tourist spot and there are so many people about.

Ok so the theatre is very lit up and El Capitan is in huge light up letters and because this is the Disney theatre the writing is very Disney-fied. It doesn't look like a massive building but it is when you get inside. What I will recommend though is that you do get your tickets early and get in line early for good seats. I'm not sure how long Up was out in America when we went but it was so busy and the whole theatre was full.

There is a Disney shop just next to the theatre too which is also a cafe type place so you should be able to find it easy. This theatre is one where they do some Disney premieres and the Pirates of the Caribbean films had their LA film premieres here. It is an amazing looking place from the outside so lets go in.

Just inside the doors is the ticket booth which reminded me of the one that they have on the Simpsons. It is brilliant. They gave us our 3D glasses and we went inside. Just inside it is very elaborately decorated in red and gold and everywhere is very bold. There is a place where you can go and get drinks and popcorn and I am not 100% on the prices but it was about $7 for both. We didn't bother though and just went to get our seats.

So the actual theatre is huge and when we walked in there was a man playing Disney songs on the organs for everybody entertainment. It was lovely and reminded me of Disney world as when you walk around there is the music playing and it was the same. TO say it got the place in a great atmosphere would be an understatement so it was lovely.

The seats were all quite close together but they were bucketed a little so were very comfortable. There were quite a few and the screen was huge but at this point there were curtains down which were bright gold. When the organ player had finished he disappeared into the stage and then we were treated to something I wouldn't expect from what I thought was practically a cinema.

We had several people walk out onto the stage and start clapping their hands which made everybody in the audience copy. Then we had Disney characters come onto the stage so Mickey and Minnie mouse, Pluto, goofy and Donald duck. This was so surreal . They started singing some Disney songs and some high school musical songs. This dancing went on for about 5 minutes and it was great.

By this time everybody was having a brilliant time and then the film started and because the place was full it was great hearing people laugh along with the movie. It was such a good movie too!!! We left the El Capitan theatre in a great mood and would have gone back again to see another film if we had had the time. The staff were so friendly and there was entertainment for everybody and it shows this is more than your average theatre.

In conclusion I think the El Capitan theatre is a pure entertainment venue and I was only expecting a film. It is a beautiful venue which looks amazing and you can see why they use it as a premiere venue. IT truly puts on a show for people and although I thought it was expensive to go and see a film there, after being there it was totally worth it.

If you find yourself in Hollywood and you fancy the film at the El Capitan please go, you will not be disappointed.

Thanks for reading.
