INTRODUCTION I am sorry to say but this is yet another review on Thailand, I can not resist as this is place that I visited while I was in Bangkok and I feel it is a must for any tourist who is intending on going to Bangkok in the near future. Wat Phra also known as the grand palace, is a huge part of Bangkok and Thailand's culture, so on our visit this was a must as I had researched the trip extensively and this along with a few other attractions was on the top of our list. The Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew, Bangkok. The easiest way of getting to the Palace is by using one of the frequent river boats or river taxis along the Chao Phraya River rather than using a taxi or a Tuk Tuk. (Motor cycle taxi rickshaw). Bangkok is notorious for its traffic congestion and the pollution from the traffic fumes is abominable. The palace is a massive complex surrounded by a very large wall enclosing approximately 218,400 square meters of palace buildings and temples. The main attraction of the complex is the 45 centimeter Emerald Buddha, carved from one stone of Jade. This is the holiest and most religious object in Thailand. ------------------------- Personal experience ------------------------- After reading many great reviews about the Grand Palace this was first on our itinerary. We took a cab and had a hard time explaining to the cab driver where we wanted to go, as they don't speak or understand English too ... Read the complete review

Before we set off to bangkok we had done a little bit of research into the local attractions as i think people should always do to get the most out of their stay. We were in bangkok for 3 nights and decided to set aside atleast half a day for the Grand Palace (GP). After visiting a variety of smaller temples throughout our stay i have to say we were getting a little bored of seeing the same thing over and over again. Most of the temples are small and located in places you have to search for hours to find! The GP on the other hand is a totally different story, as you sail down the Chao Phraya river (the best and cheapest way to travel in Bangkok) you can see both the ... Read the complete review
