Occupying a good portion of Slovenia, the Pohorje Massif is the easternmost part of the European Alps. By the time the Alps reach Slovenia they are rather modest; in the north east of the country are the country's highest peaks in the Julian Alps which gently give way to Pohorje where there are few peaks over 1500 metres. Even so, the Pohorje Massif still offers plenty of opportunities for skiing and other snow based activities in central and north eastern Slovenia as well as other activities such as hiking, rafting and mountain biking. For the less energetic it's good to know that this is one of the most scenic parts of Slovenia with plenty to interest ornithologists ... Read the complete review
