Newest Review: ... there concerts are held all year round but the winter ones are the most atmospheric. Lots of Mariborcans walk to the upper station several times a week, some daily. Nordic walking is very popular in Slovenia and many locals head straight for the mountain after the office, making short walk of the steep climb before turning back and making a rapid descent. We take half as long again as the regulars but we're getting there slowly.

Occupying a good portion of Slovenia, the Pohorje Massif is the easternmost part of the European Alps. By the time the Alps reach Slovenia they are rather modest; in the north east of the country are the country's highest peaks in the Julian Alps which gently give way to Pohorje where there are few peaks over 1500 metres. Even so, the Pohorje Massif still offers plenty of opportunities for skiing and other snow based activities in central and north eastern Slovenia as well as other activities such as hiking, rafting and mountain biking.
