It was my birthday recently. I had an e-card. It played Peer Gynt. It was sent by a very special friend, a person who has inspired me in so many ways, and made me smile so many times. The music of Edvard Grieg does the same for me. Before making Troldhaugen his home, this great composer early romantic music, studied in both Leipzig and Copenhagen. His work covers a wide range of emotional expression, his most famous work being the music he put to Ibsen’s “Peer Gynt”.
