Forbidden CityNewest Review: ... least we got out with all bits and bobs intact you might be glad to hear. The Forbidden City is a fantastic collection of rooms and hallways all decorated in red and gold. It is really a highlight to any visit to Beijing and is well worth spending several hours here exploring and looking through the palace. There is no way that you would see everything on one visit as the palace has 980 buildings within the palace and 9,999 including ante rooms. Some of the rooms are not open to the public but the main halls and the concubines quarters are available to look into or around and explore. It costs approximately 60 Yuan to go in which works ou... more |

The Forbidden City. Beijing. I remember as a child looking at pictures and reading about the last Emperor and the Forbidden city and although I had a vivid imagination I never thought I would ever go and visit the Palace, Visiting the palace was one of my biggest dreams so I was very fortunate enough to visit it and I would hope that I can make another visit there one day soon and hopefully after reading this you will also feel the same. What is the Forbidden City? This is a city built for the Chinese Emperor who was cocooned in the vast city within a city. Building started on the palace in 1406 and it took 16 years to build. ... On Arrival in Beijing the Forbidden city is a must see location, i do not contest with this. The history and legacy contained within the walls of this historic location is mind blowing, i am however, not here to lecture on the history. i would advise visiting during spring or autumn because during the summer Beijing is intensely Hot and frequently wet, whilst during the winter months temperatures venture below zero. The price for entry is reasonable, it used to be execution, however 40 yuan is suffice nowadays. The architecture is fabulous, the imposing Hall of Supreme Harmony is the largest structure and historically most important. It was built during the 15th ... Read the complete review

I have lived in Beijing for more than 11 years. I visited Forbidden City several times. Briefly I would like to say if you want to know Chinese history in the late 500 years, you must visit Forbidden City also know as Palace museum. It was an imperial palace for Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911). During the period there were 24 emperors and their families. Now it's a public museum. It is famous as one of world five palaces and one of World Heritages. There you can see Chinese Ancient buildings that are the biggest and most preserved buildings group in the world. Do remember these buildings closely connect Chinese culture ... Read the complete review

I visited Beijing in October, and I would have to say the Forbidden City is the number one 'must see' attraction! The Forbidden City is located in central Beijing and is easily reached by the subway or by taxi. The Forbidden City is next to Tiananmen Square, so it is probably a good idea to visit both at the same time. The Forbidden City was commissioned by the Ming Emperor Yongle and was completed in 1420. The Forbidden City was 'a city within a city', and this is where the Emperor and the court lived and ruled. The Forbidden City was not open to normal citizens, hence the name! It is a huge complex with 9999 rooms, I would recommend ... Read the complete review

Once again im not quite sure why the title for this is in german. Anyway i believe it is the Forbidden City. Located at the heart of Beijiing overlooking Tianamum square, if you visit Beijing you cant help but visit this sight. Beijiing has not always been the capital of China. A thousand or so years ago the emperour of china ordered Beijiing to be built as the new capital. The Forbidden City was the first thing to be built, it is and always has been the heart of Beijiing. Its basically an old chinese city surrounded by high walls. When you enter the city you, enter below the gate house under the picture of chairman Mau, into a massive courtyard, ...
